Russian troops, tanks, missiles and aircraft entered Ukraine from the north, targeting Kyiv, using Belarusian roads, railways, airfields, fuel depots and military infrastructure. This could not have happened without the consent of the Belarusian authorities.

Belarus did not stop its involvement after Russian forces withdrew from northern Ukraine. It continues to provide its territory for Russian military presence, training and troop rotations. Russian forces still use Belarusian infrastructure, and Belarus’s military command systems are deeply integrated with Russia’s.

Belarus also supports the war economically. Belarusian factories produce and repair military equipment for the Russian army, including components for weapons systems and aircraft. Hundreds of Belarusian enterprises now work directly for Russia’s defence industry. This makes Belarus part of Russia’s war economy.

Even without sending its own army into Ukraine, Belarus plays a key role by forcing Ukraine to keep significant forces on its northern border, weakening Ukraine’s ability to fight Russia elsewhere.

Politically, Belarus supports Russia in international forums and aligns with Kremlin narratives, while presenting false “peace rhetoric” to mask its real role.
