Now, that we've covered the basics of #VirtualMachines and #smartcontracts, we can move on to the #Ethereum Virtual Machine.

The #EVM is the most popular and widely used Virtual Machine, supporting a huge variety of #decentralized applications aka #dApps.

It is possible for #EVM-based #dApps to communicate w/ other #blockchains but only by first creating compatible infrastructure.

#Ontology already has its own #VirtualMachine, and also supports #Wasm and the #NeoVM #NeoBlockchain

The #EVM is the 4th VM Ontology is supporting.

#Ontology recently launched its #EVM TestNet and opened its #EVM-compatible public beta for developers.

Developers can use the Ontology Bridge to convert Ontology’s native #OEP4 tokens to #ORC20 tokens and add them to their #MetaMask wallets and then deploy #dApps.

In addition to #Ontology's #EVM TestNet, the #Ontology #Blockchain Explorer, Developer Documentation Center and #Ontology #EVM-supported #Web3 API is also being upgraded, incentivizing #Ethereum developers to deploy #dApps on the TestNet.

To help refine our TestNet, we have also set up a #bugbounty w/ #SlowMist Team.

It's impossible to be unaware of the #EthereumMerge, an important milestone as the network embraces proof-of-stake (PoS), as an alternative to proof-of-work (PoW)🧑‍💻.

This consensus switch represents an important change in the #Ethereum blockchain.

At #Ontology, we believe that moving to PoS brings the opportunity to improve the efficiency of block 🧊production, as mining is no longer required ⛏.

Indeed, the Ontology public blockchain is built as a combination of PoS, VRF, and BFT.

But what does that mean? 🤔

Essentially, it means the #Ontology consensus algorithm is actually VBFT, a combination of PoS, Variable Random Function (VRF), and Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) systems 🤓.
