🇵🇸 The Battle of Al Karameh  معركة الكرامة | 1968 | Palquest

The battle of Al Karameh took place on 21 March 1968, in and around the small Jordanian town of al-Karama , in the Jordan Valley north of the Dead Sea . The battle involved invading Israeli forces and a combination of Palestinian guerrilla fighters (fedayeen) and forces from the Jordanian army. It was the first major Israeli invasion into Arab territory since the end of the 1967 War .

Although the Israeli army succeeding in destroying the fedayeen base at al-Karama, it suffered relatively heavy losses in the process, and the news of vastly outnumbered and outgunned fedayeen standing and fighting instead of retreating led to a massive upsurge in publicity and support for the Palestinian resistance movement, and Fatah in particular, launching it into the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) the following year.

The battle thus became a key moment in the development of the Palestinian resistance movement. At the same time, it set the stage for a confrontation between Palestinian guerrilla organizations and the Jordanian state, which would come to a head in the events of September 1970.

🇵🇸 Biladi, une révolution - 1970

Switzerland - Fr no Subtitles - Documentary | Director: Francis Reusser | 60 minutes

Jordan 1970 : Like a political tract, the film exalts the Palestinian revolution through the role of the combattants, women, workers and children. Revolutionary songs and poems punctuate the people's struggle for liberation. This film defends a cause that was very little supported at that time. 'Biladi, une révolution' is one of the very first (if not the first) films on the issue.

🇵🇸 A Victory for the Palestinian People ( 1973 Documentary ) - Color Version | PPPA –

Curator's note: this may be the first-ever US published Palestine solidarity poster

This image was used to advertise a 52-minute black and white film entitled “Revolution Until Victory” that came out in 1973 from Single Spark Films.

Single Spark Films emerged out of the film production company called California Newsreel, after the group split up. Single Spark Films was associated with a Marxist group in the San Francisco Bay area called the Bay Area Revolutionary Union.

The photo might, MIGHT have been taken by noted photographer and Palestine activist Jeff Blankfort in Jordan's Schneller refugee Camp when he was a photographer working with Liberation News Service in #Jordan in 1970-71.

🇵🇸 We Are the Palestinian People: Revolution Until Victory (1973) Documentary

Made by a breakaway faction of the US Newsreel collective Pacific Newsreel, We Are the Palestinian People (Revolution Until Victory, 1973) edits exclusively archival footage into a detailed, historical reconstruction of the conflict. Great attention is paid to the political genesis of #Zionism, the role of colonial Britain in assigning Palestine to #zionists and the strategic role Israel has played ever since in the control and monopoly of the world’s most sought-after commodity, oil.

While other titles in the season stressed the internationalist dimension of the Palestinian #revolution by linking it to other #AntiColonial struggles, the same concept is rendered here specularly – for if #AntiImperialism is a transglobal phenomenon, so is #repression. Incorporated into the montage is footage of general Moshe Dayan visiting Vietnam to learn about counter-insurgency techniques.
