🇵🇸 UN Votes to Protect Civilians - Gaza

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution on “protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations” on the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza strip.

The vote passed with 120 votes out of 179, with just 14 votes against the resolution which included the #US and #Israel

🇵🇸 Israel continues to bombard Gaza, leaving thousands displaced

#Israel has intensified its bombardment in the north of the Gaza Strip, specifically near #Jabalia refugee camp where a complete neighbourhood has been attacked and dozens of residential buildings were completely wiped out.

With every hour more than 50 Palestinians get killed by the Israeli ongoing strikes.
The majority of the death toll, as the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has announced, is young children and women.

UNRWA, the #UN agency for Palestinian Refugees, says it has lost touch with its staff in Gaza. On Saturday displaced Gazans stormed one of the Agency’s food supply centers in Deir el-Balah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Nearly one-third of Gaza's population is now displaced and resides in facilities affiliated with #UNRWA. But more than 50 of its employees have been killed. For them, like the rest of the #Gaza Strip’s population, there is no place to go.

🇵🇸 The UN has said that 88 Unrwa staff members have been killed in Gaza since 7 October, the highest number of such deaths in a single conflict.

The UN made the announcement on Sunday in a rare joint statement issued together with several non-UN humanitarian organisations.

The statement further said: “We need an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. It’s been 30 days. Enough is enough. This must stop now.”
