Bodies of Russian soldiers line the hospital after Azov takes control.

In a stunning turn of events, about 50 Azov fighters popped up from their hospital beds and overpowered the Russian garrison at the hospital.

They are now organising their extraction to Turkey. It appears this was the brilliant Zelensky plan all along.

Ok just kidding. These soldiers from 107th regiment of the Donetsk army (former Ukraine) are taking their sleep shift on the floor in the Novo-Azovsk Hospital in Donetsk (former Ukraine). The Azov guys are also at this hospital being treated for injuries, and are detained under several possible categories.

💢 The EU is making the step from a Trade Bloc to a Defense Alliance, as yours truly has said for ages.

We may even view Borrell in a different light, much more of an act or a stunt with his hawkishness towards Russia.

This will change the characteristics of the EU and international relations of others with the EU.

The only way the US will use the least efforts against creating an EU army (and a vast limitation on NATO) is if the EU escalates apparent hostilities with Russia.

💢600 more surrender - The surrender of Ukrainian forces from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol continued on through the night.

The Donetsk Republican commander of the “Vostok” battalion Alexander Khodakovsky, noted that the surrender continued even after dark until 22:00, about 600 militants Surrendered through his area.

💢 Eastern Ukraine end of May 17 '22

🔻North of the Kharkiv region:

▪️ Ukrainian units entrenched at Stary Saltov - Upper Saltov - the southern outskirts of Rubizhne - Ternovaya. Control over Ternova allows access to the state border of Russia and to Volchansk from Staritsa. Currently, there is an active defeat of the Ukrainian positions from Mospanovo to the Ternova area.

▪️ Mobile Ukrainian DRGs operate on the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets.

▪️ MLRS are being fired at Cossack Lopan. In response, Russian artillery units are firing barrage at the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Chernoglazovka, Duvanka and Odnorobovka.

🔻Offensive in the Donbass.

▪️Under Severodonetsk advance units entered Sirotino. The enemy has been driven out of most of Shchedrishchevo, the sweep is being completed.

▪️Lugansk Republicsns drove Ukrainian units out of Orekhovo. There are battles for Kamyshevakha. Vrubovka was taken, Druzhba and Novozvanovka cleared. Fights in Tripoli, Priplipchatino and Troitsky.

💢 Finland and Sweden have officially applied to join NATO at the alliance's headquarters, kicking off a process that is expected to take only a few weeks.

According to diplomats, ratification by all 30 union parliaments could take up to a year.
