Before Netflix, there was Shaw Brothers. And one man was at the heart of it. 🎥
Chua Boon Hean spent more than three decades with Shaw Brothers in Singapore, working behind the scenes on film distribution, script writing and screenplay review. 📝
Today, some of his film manuscripts are preserved in our collection — including scripts for Malay films such as Sri Menanti (Moon over Malaya), as well as Chinese film scripts. 📜
Discover the stories they hold. 🔎

Aren’t libraries supposed to just shelve books? 📚
That may be a function of a library, but not its purpose: to connect communities and ensure equitable access to knowledge.
The Temasek Foundation-NUS Heritage Champions Showcase held by NUS Libraries on 5 Sep spotlighted 10 student-led community heritage projects documenting Singapore’s lesser-known history, from the ice cream hawker trade to Singapore’s Southern Island communities.

☁️The ongoing hazy skies and exams around the corner might make you feel gloomy, so here's some good mews! We’re opening up our 24/7 study spaces earlier this semester to give you a more comfortable space to hit the books.📚
The Central Library Level 6 Reading Area will be open 24/7 from 26 Oct, 9pm to 4 Dec, 9pm so you have more time and space to study for your exams.
Even better, you can chope your study spot around the clock via Chope@NUS during this period. No need to hiss and claw for a seat!
Psst...btw the Medicine+Science Library Atrium and Level 2 and 3 Study Areas are open 24/7 all year round, giving you more options to study any time of the day.
So plan ahead, take a paws when you need so you purr-form your best! 🐱
