Digital Discovery Day was all about learning, exploring, and having fun outside of the usual studying grind 📚💻
Participants got to check out interactive education booths, join library and publisher workshops, and even go on a quest to win some super cute prizes! Along the way, there were plenty of fun stops, from our Libbie-themed photobooth, to tasty snacks that kept the energy going.

Dr Noreen Chan of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine arrived one day with an armful of papers and books. Among them were two photo albums, lovingly preserved, that tell the story of her Peranakan family from the 1920s to 1960s. 📸

✨Buried underground during WWII, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) Board meeting minutes (1906–1942) survived the war, and are now published in a 14-volume set! ✍️
We are honoured to be one of the few libraries to receive these invaluable and rare copies, which offer first-hand historical material for scholars studying local Chinese business culture and Singapore’s social development from 1906 up to the pre-war years.
These gems shed light on:
💡The Chamber’s role and influence in Singapore’s social transformation before WWII
💡Complex relationships with the Qing and Republican governments in China, as well as the British colonial authorities
💡How Singapore’s Chinese business community adapted and thrive amid change
All minutes were handwritten by Secretariat staff, including literary icon Khoo Seok Wan, making them not just history, but calligraphy art. 🤩
