The position is full-time, with currently 39 hours per week.
Latest target start date for the project is July 1, 2020.
The position should be used for a doctorate. The BfR offers an extensive doctorate supervision programme. This serves to impart both scientific and methodological knowledge and offers the opportunity to regularly present doctoral projects in internal events and benefit from scientific exchange. Participation in the doctoral programme is a compulsory part of the role.
The advertised position is part of the European Union-funded project “PERFORCE3”. According to the funder’s provisions, applicants must comply with the following criteria:
Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.
Applicants must be in first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
Tasks:
Participation in the PERFORCE3 research project
Planning and executing experimental research on the molecular mechanisms of hepatotoxicity of perfluorinated compounds
Executing cell and molecular biology work with a focus on hepatocellular in vitro cell culture systems
Communication and cooperation with project partners
Writing scientific publications and reports
Participation in the PhD program of the BfR
Presentation of project results and progress
Supervision of master and bachelor students
Desired skills and experience
Requirements:
University degree (masters, diploma (university) or a comparable university degree) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, food technology or a similar discipline
Practical experience in cell biology & molecular biology (e.g. PCR, Western blotting, cultivation of mammalian cells, cloning, and immunocytochemistry) required
Very good knowledge of spoken and written English required
Willingness to travel for work and to participate in an international exchange program required (for some month)
Experience in the field of statistical analysis of biological data advantageous
Experience with “omics” techniques advantageous
Knowledge of spoken and written German advantageous
Good computer skills and a conscientious, independent and diligent way of working, flexibility, teamwork and resilience
