Answers to real trading questions
β 1. Why does the market often make false breakouts, and how can they be filtered out?
False breakouts are not βcoincidentalβ or chart errors. They are a hunt for liquidity.
The price breaks through the level because:
- there are crowd stop losses behind the level
- large players need to take liquidity to build up their position
- the breakout creates momentum that βthrows outβ weak participants.
How to filter out false breakouts:
- look at the closing of the candle above the level, not just the shadow;
- use higher TF (false breakouts on lower TF are much more common);
- wait for confirmation (retest of the level and reaction);
- evaluate the structure: if the trend is weak or in a correction phase, breakouts are more likely to be fake.
If you are not sure, it is already a fake breakout. Real levels feel clear and calm.
β 2. How to calculate the risk per trade if positions are opened in parts?
For example: The risk per trade is 3%. First, you calculate the total position volume, which corresponds to a 3% risk of the account (to calculate the correct position volume for a 3% risk, you don't have to do it manually. Just open any website with a position volume calculator; there are plenty of them on the internet). Then you divide this volume into several entries: entry 1 (1%), entry 2 (1%), entry 3 (1%).
All entries have one common stop loss. If the stop is triggered, the total loss is equal to 3% because each entry is part of one position.
β 3. In what situations is it logical to skip a trade, even if the setup looks good?
- The market is too volatile and the structure is unclear.
- Important news is coming soon.
- The stop is too large.
- When the idea is good, but the movement is already over and you are entering late.
- An internal signal of doubt (if you have a feeling that βsomething is wrong,β that is already a filter. A trader's intuition is statistics in their head)
β 4. How to improve your win rate without increasing risk?
Your win rate grows not because of aggression, but because of the quality of your entries. Here are some proven methods:
- Remove weak setups
- Filter by senior TF
- Wait for confirmation (retest, impulse, candlestick pattern)
- Remove entries that are too early
