Switzerland May Cut F-35 Order From 36 to 30 Jets After Fixed-Price Deal Dispute
Switzerland may reduce its planned F-35A purchase from 36 to around 30 fighters, as a parliamentary inquiry found that no binding fixed-price agreement was ever reached with the U.S. Buying all 36 would require about CHF 1.1 billion more.

🇮🇷 Iran war pushes US military funding into historic crisis
🔊For the first time in 65 years, US Congress could fail to pass its annual defense authorization bill, while President Donald Trump's record $1.5T military spending plan is also at risk, The Washington Post reports.
Negotiations have stalled amid opposition to the Iran war and growing frustration with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, whose confrontational approach has strained relations with lawmakers from both parties.
Eight months of war with Iran have cost the Pentagon more than $47B, forcing delays to military training and maintenance while US forces struggle to replenish depleted weapons stockpiles. The administration is seeking another $67B for military operations, but Democrats are blocking additional funding, while Republicans remain divided over how to pass the spending package.
The deadlock exposes a growing problem for the Pentagon: record military spending demands are colliding with the mounting costs of war, raising questions about America's ability to sustain operations and rebuild its arsenal.

Reaction of ordinary Americans to Trump's actions does not go beyond a simple 'boo'. Obama is furious. "While we push away important allies like Canada, the White House bows before Vladimir Putin and betrays Ukrainians fighting for their freedom and democracy. Don't boo!" "No, no, no. Wait, some of you have been to my rallies before. You don't boo? What are you doing? Go vote. They won't hear your boos, but they will hear your voice."

Far-right Minister Itamar Ben Gvir shared a post on X saying that anyone not loyal to Israel must not be given the right to vote, then listing what he is proud of: making the lives of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails “hell.”
Ben Gvir’s remarks come after Palestinians inside Israel turned out in large numbers in an election Israel presents as proof of its democracy; to vote against him and fellow far-right Minister Bezalel Smotrich, whose policies include more home demolitions and the Judaization of Arab cities.
Residents of Rahat said that his home demolitions in Bedouin communities and his failure to address violence in Arab towns were why they voted, and one said he had “managed to unite Arab Israelis.” Likud officials blamed Ben Gvir for boasting about these policies online, which they said drove Arab voters to the polls.

🇺🇸 U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia, the Pentagon’s top military planner, over allegations of leaking classified information about the Iran and Ukraine wars to the media.
Sylvia is the second official removed from the position in a year, with no replacement announced.
A Pentagon official said Sylvia failed three polygraph tests and the case was referred to the Justice Department, though two other sources disputed the allegations.
Sylvia had been coordinating U.S. military planning for Iran. This means the Joint Staff that serves the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine is without its chief planner on the eve of possible resumption of strikes against Iran.
