The Gaza media office said in a statement that 18 people were killed due to faulty aid airdrop operations, including 12 people who died drowning in the sea while trying to reach aid boxes in northern Gaza.

The other six were crushed in the crowd trying to reach aid the office says was thrown "in a wrong way."

"The airdrop operations have become a real threat to the lives of hungry citizens," the statement read.

🎥 “This marks a pivotal stride towards halting Israel’s actions"

Displaced Palestinians in Rafah reacted on Tuesday with hope and skepticism to the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The vote for the resolution passed on Monday after the US abstained from voting, rather than using its veto powers as it had done during previous votes
UN human rights expert Francesca Albanese submitted a report to the UN Security Council on Monday, stating that Israel has committed several acts of genocide in its war on Gaza and that it should be placed under an arms embargo.

In her report, Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, found “reasonable grounds” to determine that Israel has violated three of the five acts listed under the UN Genocide Convention.

These include killing Palestinians, causing them serious bodily or mental harm, and “deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of the population in whole or in part,” with these acts approved by statements of genocidal intent from senior military and government officials.

The report also accused Israel of attempting to legitimise its genocidal actions by branding Palestinians as “terrorists,” thus “transforming everything and everyone into either a target or collateral damage, hence killable or destroyable"

🎥 “They can starve to death to pay on the things that they’ve done to us on the 7th of October"

An ultranationalist Israeli protester blocking aid trucks to Gaza, who was interviewed as part of a report published on Friday by The Grayzone, said he believes Palestinians should starve to death to “pay” for what happened to Israel on 7 October.

He also added that he believes Palestinians in Gaza should be forcefully displaced to Europe so that he and others can live on it as settlers
Quoting private sources, Arabi21 says that the US oppose the release of Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti from Israeli custody, in response to Israel’s request to keep him behind bars.

Barghouti, a prominent member of Fatah and regarded as a leading Palestinian political figure, has been imprisoned since 2002. Hamas reportedly want him freed as part of a hostage exchange deal with Israel.

Arabi21 says that American and Israeli refusal to release him stems from the physical assaults he has been subjected to by Israeli prison guards lately, which they say have put his life at risk.

The outlet says that the Palestinian Authority would also prefer for Barghouti to remain in prison, as President Mahmoud Abbas worries his release might cause divisions within Fatah and threaten his authority
The New York Times has cast doubt on its own reporting of an alleged episode of sexual assault during the 7 October Hamas-led attacks by admitting that new video footage appears to contradict the account of an Israeli paramedic quoted by the newspaper.

Footage taken from an Israeli soldier who was in Kibbutz Be’eri, where the alleged assault was supposed to have taken place, shows the bodies of three female victims, fully clothed and with no apparent signs of sexual violence, according to the US paper.

Earlier this month, Michal Paikin, a spokesperson for the Kibbutz Be’eri, denied that two of the girls, who were sisters, had been sexually assaulted

Thousands of Egyptian Muslims gathered in streets lined with long tables to break their fast together in a mass "iftar" meal in Ezbet Hamada in Cairo's Matariya suburb, during the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

The gathering, which was reportedly attended by 5,000 people, marked the middle of Ramadan and was deemed the "largest iftar in Egypt."
The mass iftar later turned into a big demonstration when attendees started chanting for Palestine and Gaza.

"With our soul, with our blood, we sacrifice for you, Palestine," they chanted at the annual iftar "with our soul, with our blood, we sacrifice for you, Gaza."

This spontaneous move allowed Egyptians to temporarily bypass the government's heavy restrictions on protests for Gaza.

🎥 White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said that President Biden and his administration are “perplexed” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to not send an Israeli delegation to the US after it abstained from voting on a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Kirby said that the choice to abstain did not “signal a change in policy” and stressed that the resolution is non-binding and does not prevent Israel from continuing the war on Gaza.
