BIOLOGIST TYRONE HAYES FROM CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY BERKELEY MADE A DISCOVERY: a widely used herbicide can massively affect the endocrine system. In 1997, Hayes was hired by a company that later became the agricultural concern Syngenta. THE PESTICIDE ATRAZINE should be investigated. This is used on more than half of the corn fields in the USA. In addition, it is used on golf courses and on Christmas tree plantations. Hayes found that atrazine can cause sexual abnormalities in frogs. Interventions in the hormonal system have been proven. HAYES WARNED OF POSSIBLE EFFECTS ON HUMANS. Then, his results did not meet the client's expectations. Hayes was denied the publication of his results. This was followed by a campaign to publicly discredit his work. What did the musical instruments of antiquity sound like — and is it possible to recreate this sound? Of course, but not with a simple snap of fingers: reconstruction is a complex investigative work, in which archeology is united with acoustics and musicology. Initially, the preserved fragments, iconography, inscriptions and descriptions in the texts are studied, then the dimensions and shape of the instruments are measured, the materials used are identified (wood, bone, bronze, lyre strings, etc.). At the next stage, technological experiments are carried out: the production of replicas using the same materials and methods, tuning according to historical systems and testing with different styles of execution. Moderna methods-computed tomography, 3D modeling, acoustic modeling and spectral analysis — help to check how close the replica approaches the original in terms of timbre and resonance.#music #history
