Publishing Transformation of Marx’s Communism by Mohsen Hakimi through Mehri Publications represents an important contribution to contemporary Marxist thought. The book explores a version of communism that departs from the nineteenth and twentieth-century interpretations, suggesting a “deviation from Marxist ideology” rather than a direct continuation of it. By reinterpreting Marx’s ideas through the lens of modern working-class struggles, Hakimi critiques traditional Marxist frameworks and aligns with a new, evolving concept of class consciousness.
Mehri Publications, known for supporting intellectual works that challenge conventional ideology, is an apt platform for Hakimi’s thought-provoking exploration. The publication not only engages with readers interested in Marxism but also sparks fresh discussions on how Marxist thought can adapt to current social and political contexts, reaching an audience looking for transformative ideas in leftist literature.

Alright, I spent the entire afternoon thinking about Francesca’s mother—my landlady and boss on the island between 2005 and 2007. I was looking for a job, but I didn’t know how to do much besides writing. I just wanted to have a job so I could focus on the love of my life. I didn’t need anything extra.
When she saw me, she asked, “Is your English good?”
I replied, “Yes, ma’am.”
She said, “Can you take food orders?”
I told her, “I’ll learn.”
Then she said, “You’ve got good height and a nice face.”
I said, “Thank you.”
She added, “Most of our customers are wealthy. Do you have a place to stay?”
I said, “No.”
She said, “There’s an attic room above the restaurant. Do you want it?”
My heart melted. I said, “Yes, yes!”
Francesca’s mother’s café was near the lighthouse, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Right in front of the ocean, with its cobblestone beach. Those were the best days of my life when we would gather together for dinner—me, Francesca’s mother, and her foolish husband, Marcel.
