After 7 years, I FINALLY answered the question that started my business.
In 2019, I started Master Implementers to answer this:
π "Why can different people attend the same workshop, read the same book, or watch the same course, and walk away with completely different results?"
I FINALLY found the answer, and it isn't habits, mindset, motivation, goal-setting, identity, or simply implementing more.
The full story is over on Facebook:

If you close most calls, your price is too low.
100% close rate, and he still isn't paid enough.
One deal at S$1,500, another at S$1,200, and one that never properly closed, around S$100.
That's what came out in April when I asked a client of mine how much he gets paid on average.
It took him a while to get there.
The question before that one, he answered much faster.
For every 10 calls, how many people say yes to you?
For his one-to-one AI calls, 100%.
He builds custom AI systems for other businesses.
So that's the problem, I told him.
You're not getting paid enough right now.
And I want to be fair to him, because he is making money.
Plenty of people are sitting at zero, and he isn't one of them.
A 100% close rate at those prices tells you the selling already works.
He's already doing the hard part, getting a stranger to say yes to him.
What he charges for that yes is the part that's off.
I told him those prices are good.
They just aren't great, and when we keep saying yes to the good, we don't get to say yes to the great.
- Add up what your last ten sales conversations actually paid you.
- Then price so that some people say no.
- And before you book another call, ask who you're attracting in the first place.
β The three numbers he named add up to S$2,800, and one client paying S$3,000 beats all three put together.
How you attract the S$3,000 person is the real work.
It only starts once you stop being impressed by the 100%.

I'm deleting 90% of my trainings this year.
Someone left my membership because there was too much inside.
He joined through a referral from a good friend.
In the first few days he was consuming everything.
He went through the content, he went through the trainings, he even wrote his intro post.
Then five days in, he messaged me.
"Marc, there's abit too much to consume & I'm feeling overwhelmed⦠so I'd like to leave."
We hadn't even had our first 1:1 yet.
I had zero hard feelings then and I still don't, because the overwhelm was real.
But he came in to break a pattern, and inside five days he had run that exact pattern again, this time using my material.
What he was missing was somebody telling him which one thing to do first.
One expert says master sales, the next says fix your mindset, the next says build systems, and all of it sounds good.
None of it tells you which one is yours in the season you're actually in.
He's one of the reasons I'm now killing 90% of the trainings I built.
They work, but handing someone more to get through was never the help they needed.
So I'm cutting my library down to the few things that actually get installed in someone's business, and if that means there's less of me to consume, good.
Pick the training you keep meaning to finish, and don't finish it.
Write down the one thing in your business it was supposed to fix.
β Knowing the ONE thing that matters for you right now beats any library you can buy, mine included.

How to close without using a fake deadline.
Fake deadlines work, and that's the problem.
A few weeks ago I wrote out my entire objection playbook, start to finish.
One rule ended up sitting underneath all of it.
Only offer a deposit, a payment plan, a refund, a guarantee or a deadline that genuinely exists.
You already know the ones that don't, like the last spot that isn't really the last spot, or the cohort that closes Friday and quietly reopens on Monday.
Those things do work, which is exactly why people keep reaching for them, and why they cost so much.
When somebody doesn't buy, it's almost always one of four things.
They've got something practical in the way, like timing or scheduling.
They're missing a belief that got skipped much earlier in the conversation.
They're the sort of person who thinks hard about every decision before making it.
They were never going to buy in the first place.
π When you go back through your last sales conversation, was every deadline, policy and number you named actually true?
π Next time somebody hesitates, tell them a no is completely fine with you.
π If the answer is still no, go find the belief that never got built.
I count seven beliefs that have to be in place before somebody says yes, and a no usually points at whichever one is missing.
Pressure skips all of that, and you spend next month fixing the end of your calls instead of the hour before it.
β Every fake deadline buys you a client who was never convinced.
It probably costs me a few yeses, and I'd still rather have the clean no.

Fix these 2 things before you rebuild your funnel.
The most boring business I know keeps winning contracts.
My friend runs a rubbish collection company here in Singapore.
No funnels, nothing viral, and nobody has ever asked her about her content strategy.
She keeps winning the contracts anyway.
She hires better managers, her people stay longer, the way she rewards them still works as the team gets bigger, and the delivery doesn't fall apart.
I thought about her this week while I was coaching a private client.
He wanted to start a shiny second company.
The job he'd just moved into, running business development at the property maintenance company he works for, was still brand new.
His boss is getting that company ready to go public, which means what the boss actually needs from him right now is cash coming in.
His idea for the second company was fine.
But everyone I know who's actually scaled a service business did it on the same deeply boring thing, and it was never the funnel they were about to rebuild.
β Look at what happens right after somebody says yes to you.
β If five more clients turned up tomorrow, which two parts of your delivery would break first?
Fix those two before you go near your marketing again.
β There's not a lot of competition in boring businesses.
You just have to be a bit different, or a bit better.
He's staying in the boring job for now, and I think that's the one that actually pays him.

Your S$10,000 win helps more people than a S$1M one.
A president acknowledged my client, and he told nobody.
That was five years ago, and I only found out about it this week.
When I asked why he'd never shared it, he said it felt outdated, and that other people's wins were bigger anyway.
There's a difference between feelings and facts, and he had the two mixed up.
The fact is that a president acknowledged him.
The feeling is that it's old news and somebody else did something bigger.
He let the feeling decide, so the fact sat in a drawer for five years.
β Screw the feelings, and share the fact anyway.
I have to remind myself of this too.
There's a photo of me with Tony Robbins from seven years ago, and more than once I've quietly written it off as ancient history.
Someone told me back then, "that one photo can help you for the rest of your life."
That turned out to be true, and the photo is still sitting on my page pulling its weight years later.
If someone made a million dollars this year and someone else made their first ten thousand, whose story does a beginner actually need?
Usually the ten thousand one, because a million sounds like fiction and ten thousand sounds like the next step.
So pull one win you've been sitting on because it feels old or too small, and put it out this week with no apology in front of it.
You will never know which of your wins is the one somebody needed, and that's exactly why you share it anyway.
You got this π

You only need 5 clients at S$3,000 a month.
His calls were booked, and nothing was closing.
He was already spending S$20 to S$30 a day on ads, and the calls were landing in his calendar.
Then he said this.
"I think it would take some time to be as natural as you, or as natural as someone who is good at sales."
Then he told me about a competitor who covered everything and took a revenue share on top.
It's the kind of setup that makes you feel like there's nothing left for you to sell.
About two minutes in, I stopped him and gave him a number.
Five clients paying you S$3,000 a month, maybe S$4,000, maybe one of them on a percentage, and you're done.
Then we dug into why nothing was closing.
Every person he'd been getting on the phone with came from a place that was never going to have the budget for this.
He was doing the reps, just on people who could never say yes.
β Put two questions on your intake form before anybody gets a call slot.
Are you the decision maker?
And how soon can you start: right away, in a week or two, or you'd rather take your time?
The third answer is a polite no.
β How many clients does your life actually need?
Divide the monthly income you want by what one good client pays you, and stop at that number.
Do both and your calendar gets thinner, but the people left on it can actually buy.
β The number you actually need is almost always smaller than the one in your head.
If the answer fits on one hand, that competitor was never your problem.

How to tell if a program is wrong for you.
She cried for one hour, and not over money.
Her words: "I went to the toilet and I cried for one hour, because I couldn't, I just would not take it."
She had been walking me through a rough stretch: hiring people, letting people go, quietly wondering whether she was attracting the wrong people.
Then she got to a retreat she'd been on.
The person she'd been working with treated the sale as the thing that mattered most.
The way she described it, the approach came down to doing whatever you needed to get the sale.
She wasn't against selling, and she said so more than once.
What she would not do was push somebody who clearly wasn't aligned with her.
Being told to do it anyway was the part she couldn't sit with.
She's since put her money into a different program.
The money was there the whole time.
β An excellent program can still be the wrong FIT for you.
Nobody hands you that on a sales page, which is why it's one of the first things I ask about on a call now, before anything about funnels or offers.
β Before you sign up for anything, ask how they'll want you selling once you're in.
β Name the one thing you won't do to get a sale, before anybody asks you to do it.
The time you spend working in a direction that was never yours, that's the part you don't get back.

Stop pricing your program by copying a competitor.
She priced a S$3,000 program off one stranger online.
One competitor doing something roughly similar was all she managed to find, so to her, that was the market.
More than 45 people showed up, 22 of them asked to speak with her one to one, and 8 of those calls were already sitting on her calendar.
She told me the offer was the best she could do at this stage, but that it wasn't a legitimate product.
Then she added, "at least that's what I'm telling myself."
If she'd wanted data, she would have kept looking until she had more than one number.
She stopped at one because one was enough to justify a price she had already decided she was allowed to ask for.
I told her pricing is always about value, and then I said, "I'm just trying to connect to your heart as well, rather than just your head."
Because the life she has already built is the exact thing her buyers are asking for, and somewhere along the way she stopped seeing it that way.
β When you can't say your price out loud, start with what you believe your work is worth.
π Before you name a price on your next call, let them tell you the outcome they actually want, in their own words.
Once they've named that outcome themselves, your number is just the answer to something they already told you.
You got this π

How I cleared 20 limiting beliefs without therapy or crying.
I cleared over 20 limiting beliefs in one week.
No crying, no going back through my childhood, no therapy.
For years I assumed that was the only way it worked, so I left most of mine sitting exactly where they were.
Then it landed on me that a belief is just a decision.
Something I decided about life at some point, usually when I was small, and then never went back and decided again.
Once I saw it that way, the process got embarrassingly simple.
1) Find the belief by what hurts.
Whatever's causing you real suffering right now has a belief sitting underneath it.
Someone in the room I taught last week, still in a full-time job and building on the side, found his in one sentence: if I don't quit my job, I'm a failure.
2) Write the belief you actually want, one clean line.
The one I keep handing people is "I can still mess up and not be a failure."
3) Expect the old belief to win the first round.
It's had years of practice and the new one started thirty seconds ago, so of course it wins.
4) Every time you catch yourself, remember you made a decision, and act from the new one anyway.
Writing that new belief down quietly puts your brain to work too.
The same brain that spent years collecting evidence you're not good enough will start collecting evidence for whatever you decide instead.
β You'll still feel the sting, you just stop letting it run the decision.
Trusting yourself is a rep count, and every catch is one rep.
Gym 5,000 times and you're stronger than the guy who went five, and this works exactly the same way.
Whatever you decided about yourself when you were small, you get to decide it again this week.
