🗣️Друзья! Несмотря на то, что Вильгельмина Баденская активно участвовала в воспитании своих детей, им все же требовался (относительно) профессиональный воспитатель. В ноябре 1829 года воспитателем 5-летней Марии и её 6-летнего брата Александра назначен капитан Кристиан Конрад Фрай (1798-1870). Эту почетную обязанность он будет исполнять до апреля 1841 года, когда оба его воспитанника отправятся в далекий блистательный Санкт-Петербург.
Наверняка им пригодились «практикоориентированные» назидания воспитателя: держаться прямо, чересчур не выпячивать подбородок на коне и в танцах, всегда чистить зубы, беречься от холода, по возможности быстро и усердно учить русский язык.

Despite the fact that Wilhelmine of Baden was actively involved in raising her children, they still needed a (relatively) professional educator. In November 1829, Captain Christian Conrad Frey (1798-1870) was appointed as the teacher of 5-year-old Marie and her 6-year-old brother Alexander. He fulfilled this honorable duty until April 1841, when both of his pupils went to distant brilliant St. Petersburg.
Surely, the “practice-oriented” edifications of the teacher came in handy for them: to stay straight, not to stick out your chin too much on a horse and in dances, always brush your teeth, protect yourself from the cold, learn Russian as quickly and diligently as possible.

В День знаний несколько слов о «педагогических находках» воспитателя будущей императрицы Марии Александровны и ее старшего брата Александра: капитан Фрай завел для обоих воспитанников так называемый «Реестр гримас и слез». Ежедневно в документ заносились отчёты - сколько раз плакали и гримасничали Мария и Александр.
Разумеется, в конце каждого месяца учитель сводил баланс. Зачастую оказывалось, что Александр "позорил мужеский род", ибо плакал чаще сестры.

Церемониальное рукопожатие отца и дочери запечатлено на гравюре Фридриха Лёссера, «посвященной во всемилостивейшей привилегии и с глубочайшим благоговением».
Ну, а впереди у юной принцессы долгий путь в блистательный Петербург.

The ceremonial handshake between the father and the daughter is depicted in an engraving by Friedrich Loesser, "dedicated in the most merciful privilege and with the deepest reverence."

🗣️Друзья! Хотя и было решено, что в Петербург Мария отправится в сопровождении своего брата Александра, тот присоединится к сестре чуть позже. Находясь в разлуке Александр пишет сестренке «донесение из зверинца» - доклад об их питомцах. От брата Мария узнает, что издох их любимый лисенок. Гессенский принц повествует о «торжественных и достойных» похоронах: животное завернули в бумагу с золотым теснением и предали земле под розами в саду.
Интересно, что могли подумать иностранные разведки, если бы перехватили "донесение" Принца будущей Императрице?
