โ–ช๏ธThe Ramganga river rises in the
Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.

โ–ช๏ธIt enters Ganga Plain near Kalagarh.

โ–ช๏ธRamganga is comparatively a small river rising in the Garhwal hills near Gairsain.

โ–ช๏ธ It is a tributary of the river Ganges, originates from the high altitude zone
of 800m-900m.

โ–ช๏ธ it joins the Ganga near Kannauj.

โ–ช๏ธ Koshi River is a tributary of the Ganga.

โ–ช๏ธThe Kosi is an antecedent river with its source to the north of Mount Everest in Tibet, where its main stream Arun rises.

โ–ช๏ธ The Kosi river consists of seven streams namely Sut Kosi, Tamba Kosi, Talkha, Doodh Kosi, Botia Kosi, Arun and Tamber and is popularly known as Saptakoshi.

โ–ช๏ธCountries: India, Nepal

โ–ช๏ธThey unite at Triveni north of the Mahabharata Range to form the Kosi.

โ–ช๏ธKoshi River (part 2/2)

โ–ช๏ธ The river enters the Tarai of Nepal after cutting a narrow gorge in the Mahabharata Range. And it joins the Ganga.

โ–ช๏ธThe river channel is braided and it shifts its course frequently. This has resulted in frequent devastating floods and has converted large tracts of cultivable land into waste land in Bihar.

โ–ช๏ธThus the river is often termed as the "Sorrow of Bihar".

โ–ช๏ธEmbankments for flood control have been constructed as a joint venture of India and Nepal

โ–ช๏ธIt is one of the most pollution-free rivers of India

โ–ช๏ธThe Chambal rises in the highlands of Janapao Hills (700 m) in the Vindhyan Range.

โ–ช๏ธIt joins the Yamuna in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh.

โ–ช๏ธTributaries: Banas, Kali Sindh, Parbati.

โ–ช๏ธ Power Projects/ Dam: Gandhi Sagar Dam, Rana Pratap Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam, and Kota Barrage.

โ–ช๏ธThe National Chambal Sanctuary is located along river Chambal on the tri-junction of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It is known for critically endangered gharial, the red-crowned roof turtle, and the endangered Ganges river dolphin

โ–ช๏ธBetwa or Vetravati originates in Vindhya Range just north of Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh and flows north-east through Madhya Pradesh and flow through Orchha to Uttar Pradesh.

โ–ช๏ธ It meets Yamuna at Hamirpur town in Uttar Pradesh.

โ–ช๏ธ Length: 590 km

โ–ช๏ธ Tributary- Dhasan

โ–ช๏ธ The Indus River (also called the Sindhu) is one of the longest rivers in Asia.

โ–ช๏ธIt flows through 3 country  China , India and Pakistan

โ–ช๏ธSource of origin from a glacier near Bokhar Chu in the Tibetan region in the Kailash Mansarovar range near the Mansarovar Lake.

โ–ช๏ธConfluence or Mouth drains into the Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi, Pakistan after forming a huge delta

โ–ช๏ธ Tributaries :

Left bank : Zanskar, Panjnad (Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, Beas, satluj)

Right bank : Shyok, Gilgit, Kabul, Gomal, Kurram.

โ–ช๏ธ The Rigveda describes several rivers, including one named "Sindhu". The Rigvedic "Sindhu" is thought to be the present-day Indus river.

โ–ช๏ธBrahmaputra River

โ–ช๏ธThe Brahmaputra (meaning the son of Brahma).

โ–ช๏ธIt is 2,900 km in length.

โ–ช๏ธSource: Chemayungdung glacier (Kailas Range) at an elevation of about 5,150 m. Itโ€™s source is very close to the sources of Indus and Satluj.

โ–ช๏ธMariam La separates the source of the Brahmaputra from the Manasarovar Lake.

โ–ช๏ธ In the vast Ganges Delta, it merges with the Padma, the popular name of the river Ganges in Bangladesh, and finally, after merging with Padma, it becomes the Meghna and from here, it flows as Meghna river before emptying into the Bay of Bengal

โ–ช๏ธ Tributaries :

Left - Dibang river, Dhansiri river, Lohit river and kolong river

Right - kameng river, Manas river, Teesta river, Subansiri river.

โ–ช๏ธMahananda River is a trans-boundary river that flows through the Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar and Bangladesh.

โ–ช๏ธ The Mahananda is another important tributary of the Ganga rising in the Darjeeling hills.

โ–ช๏ธ Countries- India, Bangladesh

โ–ช๏ธ States- West Bengal, Bihar

โ–ช๏ธ Mahananda originates in Himalayas: Paglajhora Falls on Mahaldiram Hill near Chimli, east of Kurseong in Darjeeling district at an elevation of 2,100 metres (6,900 ft).

โ–ช๏ธIt joins the Ganga as its last left bank tributary in West Bengal.

โ–ช๏ธtributaries Balason, Mechi, Kankai and River Kalindri.
