​​Vypin Island

Vypin Island is one of the islands that make up the cities of Kochi and Ernakulam. It is located just north of Fort Kochi and can be reached by ferry or by road. It is a long, narrow island, about 27 kilometres long and less than two kilometres wide at its widest point. Moreover, the Goshree Bridge, which is about 3 kilometres long and touches two other islands, connects it to mainland Kochi.
Despite being one of the world’s most densely populated islands, the drive along Vypin Island is very scenic. The Arabian Sea is on the west, and the scenic backwaters are on the east. Furthermore, palm trees line both sides of the walkway. Vypin Island also has a lighthouse and offers a surrounding view of the nearby beaches.

​​Cheeyappara Waterfalls

Located on the Kochi-Madurai Highway (National Highway 49), the Cheeyarappa Falls is an on-the-way tourist attraction. It falls between Munnar and Kochi, in the district of Idukki, Kerala. One of the largest waterfalls in the state (which is also known as God's own country), the Cheyyappara Falls are a sight to behold.

Cascading through seven tiers of stones, these falls are a force of nature that you can not only see and experience but dip your toes into and enjoy. The surroundings of the waterfall complement its opulent natural splendour. Evergreen forests stretch out for as much as two acres around the falls, making it an active adventure and trekking spot. Several species of exotic plants and animals can be found in the neighbouring area, enclosed in the casket of a dense forest.

​​Chinese Fishing Nets

Chinese fishing nets, also known as Cheena wala are seen quite frequently in Kochi. These are stationary lift nets fixed at a particular place operated from the shore using mechanical contrivances to fishing nets almost 20m across.

This unique way of fishing was introduced by the Chinese traders in the 14th century extending its relevance to “Ko-chi”, meaning China like. Sunsets across the backwaters, rivers or sea offer a panoramic splendour of the skyline with silhouettes of Chinese fishing nets in the backdrop.

Possadi Gumpe is another hillock destination in Kasaragod that gives a picture of the hilly terrains and the rolling hills that chart the district.
