💡 Try something new this school holidays with your kids!

Spring onions are not only a common garnish used to flavour soups and dishes, but they’re also one of the easiest edible plants to grow! No soil or seeds required – all you need are leftover spring onions and a jar of water.

This form of gardening is known as vegetative propagation – the process of growing using parts of the plant other than its seeds. It’s also the perfect opportunity to teach children about sustainability and food security, in line with our #CityinNature vision, and a key pillar of the #SGGreenPlan for sustainable development.

Have fun gardening with your kids! Be sure to snap and share photos of your produce with us in the comments below.

To provide more jobs closer to homes and sustain Singapore’s competitiveness, we will continue to build up our islandwide polycentres and rejuvenate the city centre.

Among the initiatives, the city centre will be transformed into a more mixed-use and vibrant precinct, to support the evolving nature and modalities of work, to meet the varied needs of modern lifestyles. We will also introduce a wider range of amenities and lifestyle offerings, as well as more residential options.

For more on how we plan our land use to support businesses in adapting their operations to fast-changing economic trends, visit go.gov.sg/ltprexhibit, or visit the Long-Term Plan Review exhibition:

We want to shape Singapore into a playful city!

Under-utilised open spaces, such as rooftops of multi-storey car parks, can be repurposed for uses such as community gardens, while our island-wide network of green spaces, waterbodies and coastal areas will bring more nature-based recreation options to residents.

Join Us for the Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) on Neighbourhood Noise!

The Community Advisory Panel (CAP) on Neighbourhood Noise was recently set up to address issues related to noise. To support the panel’s work, the Municipal Services Office is working with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to conduct a series of public FGDs in July and August.

The FGDs in July are now open for registration! Your involvement will help the panel to develop a set of community norms that will serve as a useful benchmark to address noise issues on the ground and build a more harmonious living environment.

To meet the different rehousing needs and offer more choices for owners of flats undergoing the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme, HDB will provide two additional rehousing options.
How do we strengthen our mobility networks and be more sustainable and efficient in our travels?

Among the plans is the expansion of our rail network to 360km by the 2030s, and to tap on technology and innovation to develop a sustainable and people-centric mobility network.

We will also prioritise more road space for walking, cycling and public transport, while piloting new ideas like courier hubs.

As part of our strategies under the Cherish pillar of the Long-Term Plan Review, we have also identified five Identity Corridors - Historic East, Thomson-Kallang Corridor, Inner Ring, Rail Corridor, and Southern Ridges and the Coast. 📢 Registration for focus group discussions (FGDs) on neighbourhood noise is now open!

We'd like to hear from you - what do you think constitutes acceptable noise and what norms should we adopt?

These FGDs will help the Community Advisory Panel on Neighbourhood Noise define acceptable and non-acceptable noise, and propose social norms that are representative of us as a society.

As we plan for Singapore’s future, we adopt a science-based approach, through NParks’ Ecological Profiling Exercise (EPE), to integrate multi-functional green and blue spaces into the urban landscape.

For instance, based on the EPE findings for the northern part of Singapore, NParks has identified Khatib Nature Corridor as a new Nature Corridor, to enhance ecological connectivity between the

Central Catchment Nature Reserve and Khatib Bongsu Nature Park.

In just 2 days, the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will jointly organise our flagship event of the year – World Cities Summit (WCS) 2022!

The Summit will return to an in-person conference format this year, and will convene government and industry leaders, and leading experts from around the world to address liveable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships.

Over the course of 4 days, WCS delegates will engage with this year’s theme - “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger” – through a series of discussions on how cities need to remain liveable, sustainable, and more resilient, in these times of prolonged and unpredictable disruptions, such as pandemics and climate change!
