But a beautiful backtest doesn't impress me anymore.
I've seen EAs with massive backtest profits, extremely high win rates and impressive equity curves… yet the moment you start looking deeper, you discover the strategy depends heavily on specific market conditions, excessive risk, or perfect execution.
And that's the problem.
A backtest can tell you what could have happened.
It doesn't guarantee what will happen next.
When I test an EA, I'm more interested in questions like:
❌ What happens during a prolonged losing streak?
❌ How bad can the drawdown become?
❌ Does the strategy survive changing market conditions?
