Even #Marin is not so stupid as to really think that NATO membership for Ukraine would have prevented the war, when it was in fact the reason for the war in the first place

Addendum: Yes, the Leopard II and even the Abrams aren’t wonder weapons; if ISIS can knock out an entire company of the former, you can comfortably believe it will be easy for Russia to do the same given ready access to superior firepower.

With that said, analyzing how we got to this point in terms of strategic thinking and actions is invaluable. Part of the “secret history” of this war was the desire of the United State to shatter ties between Russia and Europe so as to poach the industrial base of the former.
