🇺🇦During the war, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine buys food for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at prices several times higher than market prices. 🇺🇦
This was reported by Ukrainian journalist Yuri Nikolov.
At his disposal was the agreement of the Ministry of Defense for catand founder of the project "Our penniesering services in 2023 for military units stationed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Cherkasy regions. The agreement worth UAH 13.16 billion was concluded on December 23, 2022.
Purchase prices for the products included in the document turned out to be 2-3 times higher than the market prices. Thus, the Ministry of Defense has contracted eggs for 17 UAH each, while the retail price in Kyiv stores is now about 7 UAH each. Potatoes were ordered for 22 UAH per kilogram, while the retail price in the store is 8-9 UAH.
Nikolov notes that information about the purchases of the Ministry of Defense is closed to the public, and this "increases the appetites" of those who develop funds for purchases for the needs of the army in wartime.🤔🤔🤔

ESTONIA AND LATVIA REMOVE RUSSIAN AMBASSADORS AS TENSIONS RISE
Earlier this month, #Estonia told #Russia to cut the number of #diplomats in #Tallinn to eight to match the number of Estonian diplomats in #Moscow.
Because of this, the Russian foreign ministry said Monday it would downgrade diplomatic relations with Tallinn and each country would be represented by an interim charge d’affaires instead of an #ambassador.
Estonia responded in kind by saying the Russian ambassador in Tallinn must also leave the country on February 7.
Neighboring #Latvia’s Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs later said his country would follow Estonia and also lower the level of diplomatic relations with Russia, effective February 24, “demanding Russia to act accordingly.”
#Lithuania’s foreign ministry voiced “full solidarity” with Estonia and said Russia’s “unfounded and unjustified” move was “a sign of simple desperation.”
#Vilnius already expelled its Russian ambassador in April after reports of atrocities by Russian soldiers in the Ukrainian town of Bucha.

This is clearly designed to create a dubious legal basis for harassing sea traffic to and from #StPetersburg in #Russia.
#Estonia is already a #NATO member, and Finland is currently a candidate for NATO membership
ESTONIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY WANTS TO EXTEND CONTROLLED MARITIME AREA
Estonia claims that the proposed contiguous zone would allow it to enforce its national laws over international waters (now used by Russia)
Asked whether the main motivation to establish the contiguous zone was to enable sanctions against Russia, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered in the negative. [LOL]
The future harrassment of sea traffic, under the dubious guise of enforcing AntiRussian sanctions, is clearly what the new zone is designed for.
Estonia and Finland have established their territorial sea boundaries in the Gulf of #Finland, in a way that allows for a three-nautical-mile-wide free navigable area on either side of the gulf's central line.
Finland has not established a contiguous zone of its own.

There was some discussion in chat recently about whether #Finland's appointed partygirl PM #Sanna #Marin was merely an idiot or a sociopathic liar.
I think her recent statements on the root cause of the Ukraine war prove that she is a simply a very willing #liar.
NATO MEMBERSHIP FOR UKRAINE WOULD HAVE PREVENTED WAR, SAYS FINLAND’S PM
"Marin said she was “sure” that Vladimir #Putin would not have launched the invasion had #Kiev already been a member."
This is pure gas lighting.
Ukraine could never have become a NATO member before the war, because Russia would invade before Ukraine could become a NATO member.
Because everyone knows by now that the threat of #NATO membership for #Ukraine, and the subsequent existential danger that would pose for #Russia, was one of the main causes for the war.
Even #Marin is not so stupid as to really think that NATO membership for Ukraine would have prevented the war, when it was in fact the reason for the war in the first place

Addendum: Yes, the Leopard II and even the Abrams aren’t wonder weapons; if ISIS can knock out an entire company of the former, you can comfortably believe it will be easy for Russia to do the same given ready access to superior firepower.
With that said, analyzing how we got to this point in terms of strategic thinking and actions is invaluable. Part of the “secret history” of this war was the desire of the United State to shatter ties between Russia and Europe so as to poach the industrial base of the former.
