Merkel spoke about the true purpose of the Minsk agreements and about her role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine
The conflict in Ukraine should be resolved through diplomacy, but there is no talk of her participation in the negotiations, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview with Zeit newspaper.
Speaking about the policy towards Russia and Ukraine, pursued by her when she was chancellor (and Merkel led the German government for 16 years - from 2005 to 2021), the politician noted that she "made decisions in a way that she understands today."
“It was an attempt to prevent just such a war. The fact that this failed does not mean that the attempts were wrong,” the ex-chancellor believes.
The federal government led by Merkel, together with France, mediated between Ukraine and Russia in the so-called Normandy format in order to seek a solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Merkel was instrumental in the 2015 Minsk Agreement, but the peace plan was never fully implemented. A few months after the end of Merkel's term in office, Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 this year.
According to the Spiegel report, Merkel believes that at the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008 and also later in the negotiations in Minsk, she bought the time that Ukraine was able to use to better resist a Russian attack. Ukraine is now a stronger, more resilient country. At that time, Merkel is certain that the country would have been overrun by Putin's troops, the magazine reports. The Russian attack came as no surprise.
“And Ukraine used this time to become stronger, as you can see today. The Ukraine of 2014-2015 is not modern Ukraine,” she said.

When you research #CoVid #masking, you find that every large scale population study, prior to 2020, showed that masking provided almost no protection against spread.
This was common knowledge
Masking only had value using N95 in a medical setting. Doctors could protect themselves during close contact with most highly contagious and most severely ill.
There were no studies showing mask efficacy on a population-wide basis.
All major publications that talked about pandemics dismissed mandatory masking as useless.
They all acknowledged how stupid it was to require masks for children
But Covid came and suddenly we studies told us that "masking works!"
Except they all seem to have the same problems:
The same few research problems over and over. All of them rejecting the scientific research of 100 yrs.

A lawmaker from the right-wing #AFD party, Eugen Schmidt, has called into question the authorities’ claims that a group of #QAnon followers had been plotting a #coup to overthrow the German government.
The MP alleged that the powers-that-be in #Berlin arranged the arrest of dozens of people on Wednesday merely to divert #Germans’ attention from an increasingly acute #energy and #economic #crisis.
Speaking to Russia’s Izvestia media outlet on Wednesday, Schmidt pointed out that the vast majority of the suspects are in their 60s or even 70s.
He noted that the elite troops who officials say were part of the conspiracy had served before 1990, when the German Democratic Republic was still around, and added that these soldiers are “long past their prime.”
With this in mind, the lawmaker argued, the official position that these individuals had been planning to storm the German parliament sounds downright “absurd” and “ludicrous.”
According to Schmidt, the entire case is merely an attempt by the German government to create a furor in the media that would eclipse “catastrophic problems in the German #economy.”

OIL TANKER PASSES THROUGH TURKISH BLACK SEA SHIPPING LOGJAM WITH RUSSIAN INSURANCE LETTER.
A letter provided by #Russian insurer, #Ingosstrakh, enabled the first oil tanker to sail through Turkish waters in recent days after tougher regulations were imposed by Turkish authorities, Reuters reports.
This has led already at least 20 oil tankers backed up in the Turkish Straits as they do not have the right or I per work.
Turkish authorities introduced new requirements, which came into effect on 1 December, in which every ship must have insurance cover in place for all circumstances when sailing through Turkish waters or when calling at ports.
Western Insurance companies, which dominate the maritime insurance market, are forbidden (by #EU #sanctions) to insure ships carrying Russian #oil and #gas deliveries.

For nearly 10 months the mainstream propaganda machine has been trying to convince the world that Russia is running out of advanced weapons, particularly precision-guided munitions (PGMs) which are essential in long-range strikes against strategically important targets controlled by Kiev.
The Russian military is supposedly so desperate that it is expropriating washing machines, smartphones, laptops or any other devices with microchips in them so it could maintain its arms production.
Such nonsensical claims would never be accepted by anyone remotely familiar with how military technologies work.......

According to a report by the National Review, dated December 3, #Raytheon #CEO Greg #Hayes warned about the severe depletion of US stockpiles of #Javelin #ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles) and #Stinger #MANPADS (man-portable air defense systems) due to the Biden administration’s insistence that the Kiev regime forces are to be supplied with such weapons.
Speaking during a panel on Ukraine at the Reagan National Defense Forum, Hayes said: “The problem is we have consumed so much supply in the first ten months of the war.
We’ve essentially used up 13 years’ worth of Stinger production and five years’ worth of Javelin production.”
According to Hayes, Raytheon and #Lockheed Martin are jointly producing 400 #Javelins per month, but no new #Stingers have been made since 2004.
Hayes said:
“the ongoing fighting in Ukraine is burning through existing weapons stocks and the question is, how are we going to resupply, restock inventories.”
