#BlockFi had already stumbled close to bankruptcy earlier this year, in the wake of the spring 2022 crypto crash.
After chief executive Zac Prince said the company needed an injection of capital to stave off a liquidity crisis, it signed a deal with none other than #FTX, which gave the company access to $400m in loans.
The price of the deal was an option from #FTX to buy the lender for about $240m, a sharp decline from a peak valuation of $3bn.

A pair of researchers from Norway found that average IQ levels are dropping precipitously, and that with each new generation, people in general are becoming progressively less intelligent.
After evaluating the test scores of more than 730,000 young men, the Norwegian duo learned that IQ levels are dropping by about seven points per generation.
These findings mirror those uncovered by a separate by related study out of Great Britain, which revealed that IQ levels have been dropping by between 2.5 β 4.3 points per decade ever since the end of World War II.
This is a sharp contrast to the state of human intelligence during the first half of the Twentieth century, when average IQ scores were rising at a steady rate.

GHANA PLANS TO BUY OIL WITH GOLD INSTEAD OF U.S. DOLLARS
#Ghana's government is working on a new policy to buy #oil products with #gold rather than #US #Dollar reserves, Vice-President Mahamudu #Bawumia said on Facebook on Thursday.
The move is meant to tackle dwindling foreign currency reserves coupled with demand for dollars by oil importers, which is weakening the local currency and increasing living costs.
Using gold would prevent the exchange rate from directly impacting fuel or utility prices as domestic sellers would no longer need foreign exchange to import oil products, Bawumia explained.
"The barter of gold for oil represents a major structural change," he added.

#Russia and #Iran have agreed to transit 12 Million Tonnes of goods via #Tehran to #India along the International North-South Transport Corridor (#INSTC)
This announcement comes after Indian Minister of External Affairs #Jaishankar's recent visit to Moscow.
Previously, only 3000 Tonnes were shipped via the route.
The INSTC route allows the movement of goods between India and Russia to be completed in around 25 days.
This is a saving of 15 days compared to the 40 days that is the norm on the Suez Canal route.
India and Russia also plan to connect the northern #Arctic route to INSTC in the future.
India and Russia have invested heavily to boost infrastructure at the #Chabahar Port in Iran.
The two sides have also signed MoU for unlimited voyages.
India is currently negotiating a Free Trade Agreement with Eurasian Economic Union, which includes Russia, #Armenia, #Belarus, #Kazakhstan, and #Kyrgyzstan.
And likely none of this trade will be transacted in #US #Dollars
