WHEN A STORY BREAKS, ALWAYS ASK, “WHY NOW?”

Regardless of the issue, the title of this piece is a good rule of thumb to apply when you are reading “breaking news.”

I am not talking about your conventional “Car Runs Over Pedestrian” or “Dog Licks Own Testicles" story.

I am talking about reports like today’s news that there are #US "boots on the ground" in Ukraine.....

YES, BUT....... "WHY NOW?"

This story is curious not only for its content but its timing.

Let me start with content.

Concerns were raised starting last April, about the corrupt diversion of U.S. military supplies to #criminal organizations inside #Ukraine.

That is why #CBS produced a 60 Minutes piece that aired in August with the inconvenient claim that a good portion of U.S. #weapons never made it to the front.

Within days of this story’s publication, CBS News deletes tweet claiming only ‘like 30%’ of US military aid for Ukraine ever reaches the front lines.

If the U.S. was serious about ensuring the weapons paid for by U.S. taxpayers actually wound up in the hands of Ukrainian soldiers, it would have been very easy to put in an #audit system and verify periodically that there was no chicanery going on.......

While it is possible that today’s story about U.S. troops on the ground carrying out audits of U.S. military supplies delivered to Ukraine is genuine, I have my doubts.

Soldiers ostensibly detailed to carry out audits could in fact be diverted to help man #M777 batteries, #HIMARS rocket launchers, #HARM #missile launchers or operate combat #drones.

Declaring the purpose as “audit” could just be a thin form of cover to avoid admitting that the U.S. has troops in #combat.....

Russian Armed Forces destroyed five Greek BMP-1s immediately after being handed over to Kyiv
Pronews.gr: Greek BMPs burn like torches in the steppes of Ukraine, serving the Zelensky regime

The Russian army destroyed five Greek infantry fighting vehicles in the Donbass immediately after they were handed over to the Ukrainian side, write the Greek media.
According to the portal iskra.gr, this happened on October 28, when Russian troops suppressed the Ukrainian offensive near the village of Berestovoye in the Kharkiv region.

"As a result, 150 Ukrainian soldiers were killed or injured, one tank and five BMP-1s <...>, four armoured personnel carriers and nine pickups converted into combat vehicles were destroyed," the publication says.
It notes that the BMPs were hit by artillery and 152-millimeter Krasnopol rockets.
The article emphasizes that the vehicles received from Greece were serious reinforcements for the Armed Forces of Ukraine - since they were in excellent condition, they were immediately put forward to the front line.
In addition, writes iskra.gr, Greece handed over RM-70 multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine. They operate mainly in the Kherson region, two of them have already been destroyed.
The pronews.gr portal, for its part, notes that they did not even have time to repaint the Greek equipment.

“It hurts the heart of the Greek military when they see BMP-1s burning like torches on the Ukrainian plains, serving the Zelensky regime. One of them still has symbols (of the Greek army) They were sent into battle in in such a hurry that they didn’t even have time to paint or remove the emblem, it is so “respected” in the government and the leadership of the armed forces. Later, apparently, there was a clumsy attempt to erase it, while adding the Ukrainian trident,” the article says.
The author adds that the Greek islands from which the BMP-1 was withdrawn remained uncovered. This was recognized by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who sent Greek weapons to Zelensky.
The retired brigadier general who had the IFVs on an island in the eastern Aegean told pronews.gr that the military had struggled to secure supplies of spare parts. But they instantly appeared when they decided to send the cars to Ukraine.

“We made superhuman efforts to keep them in perfect working order so that they could give them to Zelensky for free. We didn’t have batteries <…> But before the BMP was taken from the troops and sent to Ukraine, two cars with batteries and replaced all the old ones," the military said.
Greece undertook to send to Ukraine 40 East German-made armoured infantry vehicles of the BMP-1 type, received in 1994. In return, Germany promised to provide an equal number of Marder infantry fighting vehicles. As of October 28, Athens has already received ten of these machines.
This week, Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos travelled to Kyiv, where a ceremony was held to hand over the BMP-1 to Ukrainian troops. At the same time, according to the Greek media, the United States requires allies and partners to send more and more weapons to the Kyiv regime.

GERMANY'S UNIPER POSTS RECORD 40 BLN EURO NET LOSS

Soon-to-be-nationalised #German #gas importer #Uniper reported a record €40 billion ($39.3 billion) net loss in the first nine months of this year, the biggest in German corporate history, after #Russia stopped its supplies.

No other nation on Earth carries this much external debt to its GDP.

What this means is that Ireland will be fleeced once again, meaning her people will be enslaved financially and economically . . . when #InterestRates rise.

UK confirms it will not insure ships carrying Russian oil (90% of insurers now)

The UK has gone completely mad, as the treasury has confirmed it will not allow any British insurers to cover ships carrying Russian oil from December 5.

By December 5, tanker owners that fly any European Union flag or carry P&I insurance from an EU or UK club can no longer have crude oil onboard that originated in Russia, unless Russia has sold the crude to the buyer at or under a price cap pushed for by G7 members. The US is expected to join the insurance ban shortly meaning more than 90% of the world’s insurers will shun Russian-linked crude tanker business from next month.
