The Russian Armed Forces launched a counter offensive on the village of Ternovaya. Fighting continues in the area of Staritsa. U.S. AIMS TO CRIPPLE RUSSIAN OIL INDUSTRY, OFFICIALS SAY

New York Times - May 19, 2022

"The
#Biden administration is developing plans to further choke #Russia’s #oil #revenues with the long-term goal of destroying the country’s central role in the #global #energy #economy, current and former U.S. officials say, a major escalatory step that could put the United States in political #conflict with #China, #India, #Turkey and other nations that buy Russian oil.

The proposed measures include imposing a price cap on Russian oil, (??) backed by so-called secondary sanctions, which would punish foreign buyers that do not comply with U.S. restrictions by blocking them from doing business with American companies and those of partner nations.

As President Vladimir V. Putin wages war in Ukraine, the United States and its allies have imposed sanctions on Russia that have battered its economy.

(Is this really true? I think not. Russian economic data suggests otherwise.... see final exceprted paragraph below for example. Essentially the NYT is contradicting itself here)

But the nearly $20 billion per month that Russia continues to reap from oil sales could sustain the sort of grinding conflict underway in eastern Ukraine and finance any future aggressions, according to officials and experts.......

.....Russian oil exports increased in April, and soaring prices mean that Russia has earned 50 percent more in revenues this year compared to the same period in 2021"

UKRAINE'S RICHEST MAN VOWS TO REBUILD BESIEGED MARIUPOL

#Ukraine's richest man has pledged to help rebuild the besieged city of #Mariupol, a place close to his heart where he owns two vast #steelworks that he says will once again compete globally.

Rinat #Akhmetov has seen his business empire shattered by eight years of fighting in Ukraine's east but remains defiant, sure that what he calls "our brave soldiers" will defend the Sea of Azov city reduced to a wasteland by seven weeks of bombardment.

For now, though, his #Metinvest company, Ukraine's biggest #steelmaker, has announced it cannot deliver its supply contracts, and while his financial and industrial #SCM Group is servicing its debt obligations, his private power producer #DTEK "has optimized payment of its debts" in an agreement with creditors.

"Mariupol is a global tragedy and a global example of heroism. For me, Mariupol has been and will always be a Ukrainian city," Akhmetov said in written answers to questions from Reuters.

"I believe that our brave soldiers will defend the city, though I understand how difficult and hard it is for them," he said, adding he was in daily contact with the Metinvest managers who run the #Azovstal and #Illich Iron and Steel Works plants in Mariupol.

On Friday, Metinvest said it would never operate under Russian occupation and that the Mariupol siege had disabled more than a third of Ukraine's metallurgy production capacity.

Akhmetov praised President Volodymyr Zelensky's "passion and professionalism" during the war, seemingly smoothing relations after the Ukrainian leader last year said plotters hoping to overthrow his government had tried to involve the businessman.....

A BREIF HISTORY OF AZOVSTAL FROM THE 1890'S TO TODAY

At moments like this, history truly reveals its quality as a palimpsest - a manuscript or piece of writing on which the original writing has been effaced to make room for later writing but of which traces remain.

The search functions of the internet reinforce that quality, constantly surfacing long-forgotten pieces from a different era.

Google “Avostal”. You find this. From 1973 - the high-Soviet era.

Black Gold: It's not what you think ...

As I am sure you have heard, trouble and famine are coming, the war has caused Russia and Ukraine, two of the world's largest food exporters, to stop or partially stop their export flow, why are these two lands so fertile?
The secret of the plantations, of their success, lies largely in their soil. The most fertile soils for cultivation are generally known as Mollisols, which occupy 7% of the ice-free surface of the Earth.

It was recently revealed that a password-protected forum that is used to share #child #abuse fantasies has been working with global #transgender organisation #WPATH.

Now it has emerged that three of the child abuse forum's users are prominent '#gender #identity' #academics

TOP ACADEMIC BEHIND FETISH SITE HOSTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE FANTASY, PUSH TO REVISE WPATH GUIDELINES

May 21, 2022

A Professor Emeritus at #California State University who has given academic talks on “expanding the transgender umbrella” has for over two decades participated in a fetish forum that hosts and produces extreme #sadomasochistic written #pornography involving the #castration and #torture of #children.

#Thomas W. #Johnson, a retired Professor at California State University in Chico (CSUC), is a formative member of the body modification fetish site The #Eunuch #Archives, which was the subject of a months-long investigation by #Reduxx released on May 17.

At the time, Johnson’s identity had not yet been confirmed as an anonymous user who goes by the handle “#Jesus.”

But according to posts made to the forum in March and April, Johnson let his identity slip and invited site members to partake in an academic survey on “childhood experiences, castration desire and sexual history,” as well as watch him give a talk at CSUC via Zoom.

WAR IN EASTERN UKRAINE LOOKS A LOT DIFFERENT IN PERSON THAN IT DOES ON CNN

I saw a May 11 2022 #CNN story claiming #Russia had targeted #civilians in the Ukrainian city of #Odessa.

This was after the #bombing of a #hotel and shopping mall there.

When such structures are bombed, one assumes that they were filled with civilians.

As he is from Odessa and still has many connections there, I wanted to ask Alexey about the bombing on May 11.

"Yes, Russia attacked the luxury hotel #Grande #Pettine, because there were #foreign #mercenaries operating there.

And the big shopping and entertainment center
#Riviera was attacked because they turned it into a warehouse for #NATO #weapons.”

It’s also important to know that Russia used high-precision #missiles, so as not to cause harm to civilians.

And it is very interesting that CNN did not pay attention when more than 40 civilians were murdered and burned in
#fire in the #Trade #Unions #Building in Odessa on the second of May 2014,” said Alexey.... MORE

Talk of an engineered “SuperPox” here in Geneva. An aerosolized monkeypox is a NATO project, but I don’t think it works. But a HIV additive to monkeypox as with SARS-COV-2 by Odessa would be interesting. Will we see a GP120 insert?
