๐Ÿ“ฐ News in Brief #150

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ด Colombia: the outgoing Petro government wants the 19% online-gambling VAT made permanent, days before its term ends on 7 August.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazil: the SPA opened a 45-day consultation (27 July to 9 September) to rewrite betting-licensing rules.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Alberta: Entain won licences for Sports Interaction and PartyCasino in Canada's newest regulated market.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท Buenos Aires: a bill would add 60-minute session caps, mandatory facial recognition and daily login limits.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ EU / Belarus: from 25 August, Belarusian owners and directors are barred from any MiCA-regulated crypto firm (CFSP 2026/1847).

Regulators are tightening the whole chain this month: entry, tax, product, ownership, and now the B2B middle. Where you hold your licence decides how much of it lands on you.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Ireland's New Regulator Is Four Weeks Old. It Is Already Investigating 145 Sites.

Ireland's GRAI took over gambling oversight on 1 July. Within four weeks it was investigating 145 sites owned or operated by the Soft2Bet group, all blacklisted in at least one European country.

Revenue and the Department of Justice had granted remote betting licences to six companies run by Soft2Bet or related entities. GRAI (the new regulator) issued none of them.

One of the sites, OnlySpins, ran no age or identity checks on Irish users. It went dark on 17 July.

๐Ÿ“Œ A licence is only as durable as the regulator that issued it.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Tobique Just Added the Piece That Separates a Real Licence From a Paper One

Tobique approved iGamingADR as an independent dispute-resolution provider under its gaming framework. The same provider already covers Anjouan, Nevis and Curaรงao.

Sounds small. It isn't. ADR means player disputes over withdrawals, KYC, bonuses and fairness get reviewed by a neutral third party, not just the operator's own support desk. That is the infrastructure that separates a regime taken seriously from a licence that only looks the part.

For operators:
๐Ÿ”ต Tobique runs on the Tobique Gaming Commission (Gaming Act 2023): one licence for all B2C verticals, 0% gaming tax, 4 to 8 week approvals.
๐Ÿ”ต Adding ADR moves it from low-cost-and-fast toward low-cost, fast and defensible, a real alternative to Kahnawake without the queue.

Weighing an offshore licence that holds up under scrutiny? We license operators in Tobique. Send us your setup ๐Ÿ‘‰ @Mosope_MGL.

๐Ÿ” Most operators budget for the license fee. Few budget for what happens after: the banking delays, the frozen accounts, the clawbacks years later.

Regulators don't usually take questions from operators directly. On 11 August, one will.

Save the date: 11 August, 4 PM CEST โ€” "Why iGaming Operators Lose Money and How to Stop It" workshop with Hristo Koevski, CCO of the Nevis Online Gaming Authority, in conversation with our co-founder Odi Narzullaeva.

Three places revenue leaks:
๐Ÿ”ต The payment premium operators pay without a recognised license โ€” up to 5x on processin
๐Ÿ”ต How fast a bank account gets frozen once a regulator moves, and why crypto doesn't change that
๐Ÿ”ต Where compliance gaps sit quietly for years before turning into player clawbacks and personal liability for directors

๐Ÿ“ฐ News in Brief #151

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US prediction markets: a federal judge blocked Minnesota's first-in-nation criminal ban days before it took effect, ruling federal law likely preempts the state. New Jersey casinos and the NFL, meanwhile, are pushing Washington the other way.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India: esports games must now register with the Online Gaming Authority (OGAI) before they operate.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ Ghana: BC.GAME launched with local approval, its third regulated market after Nigeria and Mexico.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ New Jersey: after microbetting, the state is now weighing a ban on sweepstakes casinos.

The line between legal and illegal moved in several markets this week. Which side you land on is a licensing decision, not an accident.

โšก๏ธ The Hidden Bottleneck in iGaming Brand Building

In January this year, we met Valerii Makovetskii from Maincard to talk about what heโ€™s building.

He often calls Maincard โ€œShopify for iGamingโ€, and itโ€™s not just a catchy comparison.

The idea is simple: Shopify removed the complexity of launching e-commerce stores, and Maincard tries to do the same for iGaming.

Taking away heavy infrastructure and letting you launch and scale brands fast, on top of a ready-made system.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง The UKGC Just Flagged White-Label Partnerships as a Money-Laundering Risk

The Gambling Commission's 2026 money-laundering risk assessment flagged "insufficient scrutiny of white-label partnerships and business-to-business relationships" as a risk contributor.

Here is the catch for operators: on a white-label you don't hold the licence. You run under someone else's, so their compliance gaps become your exposure, and the regulator just called oversight of these deals thin.

Choosing between a white-label and your own licence? We do both, and we'll tell you honestly which fits your stage. Send us your setup ๐Ÿ‘‰ @Can_MGL.

๐Ÿ’ก PAGCOR Has Given the Market More Time: What Does This Mean For B2B Providers?

The deadline for B2B accreditation was July 31. PAGCOR pushed it to September 30, after only 66 companies were accredited by mid-July, most of them game providers.

For many companies, this isn't just a postponement, but an opportunity to see changes in the market and avoid many pitfalls.

Our co-founder and iGaming licensing expert, Ivan Kiselev, shared his perspective on the situation, explaining:
โ–ซ๏ธwhy PAGCOR made this decision;
โ–ซ๏ธwhat this means for operators and B2B providers;
โ–ซ๏ธwhat risks remain even after the extension;
โ–ซ๏ธand how companies can make the most of this time.

๐Ÿ”– Why One Operator Launches in 3 Weeks While Another Waits Months

In reality, delays usually happen long before the application is submitted.

The wrong jurisdiction, payment providers that won't support your business, unexpected legal requirements, or unrealistic launch expectations can all slow the process down - costing both time and money.

In this episode, Felipe Reinner, our BDM, walks through the key questions every operator should ask before starting the licensing process.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น A regulated Austrian online casino market is now a question of when, not if.

Austria has sent Brussels a draft to scrap its online casino monopoly. Once the Commission signs off, the market opens to licensed private operators.

Monopolies barely fall overnight. The operators who prepare their corporate and compliance structure early are the ones who launch first when the window opens.

If Austria's on your roadmap, get the groundwork sorted now: clean incorporation, AML setup, the right base licence. That work starts before the law does, not after.

Send us your case and we'll tell you what's licensable today and how to position for Austria next. DM Mo or Can.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Europe's Licensing Map Is Shifting, and Not All in One Direction

Two established markets are opening their doors this year, while a third is winning by keeping its narrow.

Austria has sent Brussels a draft to end its long-running online casino monopoly. Once the Commission signs off, licensed private operators can enter, with the market expected to open around 2027. Denmark reopened its casino licensing window too, its first opening to new operators this year.

The Isle of Man is playing the opposite game, and playing it well. It keeps its licence deliberately selective, and that scarcity is the point. A licence there carries weight with banks and payment partners that cheaper jurisdictions cannot match.

For operators the lesson is simple. The right European base is not the cheapest or the fastest. It is the one that matches your stage and the reputation you need to bank and process payments.

Planning a European base? We handle the licensing directly and match the jurisdiction to where you are. DM Mo or Can.

๐Ÿ“ฐ News in Brief #153

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US prediction markets: a Utah federal judge ruled the Commodity Exchange Act does not preempt state gambling law, letting Utah enforce against Kalshi. That is the opposite of last week's Minnesota ruling. The courts are now split.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Flutter: the world's largest operator is doubling down on prediction markets, moving FanDuel Predicts' contracts to Crypto.com's exchange even as Q2 earnings slip.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด Romania: a new tiered tax on customer winnings took effect on 1 August, part of a fiscal package to close the budget deficit.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Netherlands: Holland Casino Online won a five-year licence extension, starting 1 October.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ New Zealand: Super Group said it will likely bid for three of the 15 online licences on offer, the most any operator can hold. The market opens in 2027.

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Jamaica: the Casino Gaming Commission issued the country's first casino licence, with at least three more resort projects lining up.

๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ช Top 20 iGaming Brands in Venezuela

We looked at search volume in Venezuela for July 2026, via Ahrefs, to see which iGaming brands operators need to watch in this market.

Juega en Linea leads with 566,000 monthly searches, well ahead of TriunfoBet at 390,700 and MiCasino at 288,800.

The bigger signal for operators: local brands own the top 5 spots. Global names like Bet365, Stake and 1xBet all sit far down the list, each under 20,000 searches. In Venezuela, brand trust beats global reach.
