"It was a nasty tackle. He is lucky."
On Bruno Fernandes' comments on Erik ten Hag's sacking:
"Too little, too late. You are judged for what you have done on a football pitch. Bruno didn't show that leadership, but you also have to move on."
"A lot of players don't care that much, they just focus on the next manager. I don't think Bruno has done enough as captain over the last year or so to help the manager out. He has not shown enough leadership skills when the going has got tough."

"It was a lot of disappointment in the dressing room. We could have won the game."
"Not much has changed. In midweek the goals went in. I said to some friends everything will come to us and people will say we wanted the manager to be sacked. We get the point and we can be happy for that. We need to be disappointed because we're far back in the league."
"Ruud is a nice guy, humble for someone who won everything at the club. I am a big fan of Sporting and watch a lot of their games. Ruben Amorim brought the excitement back to the club - it was a little bit split when he came [to Sporting]. He transformed everything and brought everyone together."
"We know that Erik [ten Hag] has gone, it is not good for anyone at the club when the manager goes. The team is not the best, the results are not the best and he is the one who pays for it."
"Whenever you see a manager go you have to take some of the blame on yourself, it is because the team is not doing so well."
"It is easier to get rid of a manager than 15 players. I spoke to the manager [Ten Hag] and apologised to him, I was disappointed he has gone and I tried to help him. I wasnโt scoring goals, we are not scoring goals and I feel responsible."
"I normally score a lot of goals but I always gave 100%. He [Ten Hag] is aware of that."

"You cannot change a lot in in just five days so we we still do the same but with more intensity and that is what brings the opponent in danger to lose the ball and gets the crowd going."

"Overall it was a very good performance. The players did really well and fought in every inch of the pitch. It was very good to watch that bit."
"Overall the chances we created, we could have scored one more to win the game. It was a shame we couldn't. Overall I'm slightly disappointed we didn't win."
"It's an emotional rollercoaster - it's been almost a full week where so many things happened. My job was to steady the ship. The players reacted very well, something to build on in the next two games."
"I came here to help the club in any capacity. After these two games that will continue and hopefully it can work out. It's special to be back in the city and at the club. I really enjoy every single minute of it."
"I try to share the culture of the club, the culture of the town and the fans. That's an important part. I'm glad I can share these moments and help the players understand the spirit. I saw the spirit on the pitch on Wednesday and today. That's the foundation to grow."

"It was also difficult for me to hear. I was sad that Ruben is leaving me and leaving Sporting. It is a great opportunity. I hope that Ruben is proud of himself for getting an offer like this."
On how the process has unfolded:
"In football you don't have any guarantees, I can tell you that. We had three tough games last week and the coach didn't give us any days off. Speaking to Ruben about the whole process, we still needed to win our games. We are sad that Ruben is leaving. We are getting a new coach and a new coach that we believe in. Sporting are making the right choice by taking him and I believe in them."
On what Manchester United will be getting from Amorim:
"Of course, Ruben was one of the reasons why I came to Sporting. When you work with Ruben you see a clear picture. That was important when I joined Sporting - first to understand how he plays. The way that he manages the team inside the pitch and outside the pitch as well is not like I anything I have seen in my short career. I think Manchester United are in good hands with Ruben."
On if Hojlund and Eriksen have been in touch about Amorim:
"I haven't spoken to them yet [Rasmus and Christian]. Maybe I will see them in the international break. I haven't spoken with them, but I think they will have a million questions when I speak to them next!"

"I'm going to a more complicated world [at United], but we have to take steps forward."
On the West Ham job:
โI went to England... I didn't go to negotiate, I went to meet the owner. I had made my decision. If you think I already wanted to leave last year, there's nothing I can do about it."
"In the meeting where I said I wanted to leave, [Federico] Varandas [Sporting president] said I could renew and that if I changed my mind, we could talk..."
On his communication skills:
"My communication at the beginning will be simpler because it is in English. I think I will have to spend three months, they say that is enough. The players will not be offended if I say that they are more basic, I give training sessions here in English."
"It will be a different adaptation, but my life will be the same, there is a way of playing, an idea. But communication will be more basic."
"Tomorrow I will be Sporting's coach and only Sporting's. From the 11th I will be United's. I know they will draw conclusions from result, but I don't care. I understand the interest, for me it's just another game against a team from the best league."
"If the Man City result is negative, expectations will drop; if we win they will think that the new Alex Ferguson has arrived! (laughs). What interests me is to win, a good farewell in Alvalade, win in Braga and start a new adventure at Manchester United."
On Jose Mourinho:
"The impact he had on my career was the way he treated me, he showed me that you can win everything and be a different person than you think. A special coach, who opened doors for us."
