PONCHATOULA, La. - The Louisiana State Police has issued an Amber Alert for the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies are requesting assistance in locating two juvenile males, Kaesyn Heck, an 8-year-old white male, and Jax Matthews, a 4-year-old white male.
Kaesyn is approximately 5ft. tall and weighs approximately 60 pounds. Jax is approximately 3 ½ ft. tall and 45 pounds.
Both Kaesyn and Jax are blonde headed and have “crew cut” style haircuts.

Both children are missing and were last seen from their father’s home at 41598 River Rd. Ponchatoula LA. Jax Matthews was last seen wearing a camo jacket and black rubber boots. Kaesyn was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue long sleeve shirt, jeans and black rubber boots.
The children may be riding in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, Burgundy or Red in color with a busted sunroof. The direction of travel is unknown.

Livingston Schools to Follow New State Protocol for Masks

LIVINGSTON, La. – Superintendent Joe Murphy announced today (Oct. 27) that masks will be optional for students and employees while on Livingston Parish Public School campuses, effective Thursday Oct. 28, and the district is reinstating guidelines enacted at the beginning of the school year for determining quarantines and close contact tracing.

Superintendent Joe Murphy said the quarantine policy is supported by the Center for Disease Control and the Louisiana Department of Health and is required as part of Gov. John Bel Edwards’ proclamation for lifting the mask mandate in public schools.

“It is important to know that current data on positive and close contact cases in our district has diminished greatly over recent weeks, and we believe our decision is supported by that data,” Murphy said.

Murphy said masks will continue to be required for all school bus drivers and passengers, as that is a federal mandate.

The district’s re-enacted quarantine guidelines are as follows:
• Quarantines will be required of all positive cases.
• Quarantine Options for Exposure to COVID 19
Employees: Quarantine can end after 10 days, on day 11, without testing and has not exhibited any symptoms
OR
Quarantine can end after 7 days, on day 8, if individual takes COVID-19 test (molecular/PCR/rapid), receives a negative result and has not exhibited any symptoms. The test may be collected on day 5, but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than day 7. (Testing is not mandatory and would be the employee’s responsibility if this option is chosen.)

OR
Parents that choose to have students tested quarantine can end after 7 days, on day 8, if individual takes COVID-19 test (molecular/PCR/rapid), receives a negative result and has not exhibited any symptoms. “Due to proactive decisions made by the Livingston Parish School Board, our district has greatly increased its medical staff across the parish, and all decisions related to quarantine requirements for positive and close contact cases will be based on their medical expertise,” Murphy said.

THE POSTCARD IS FALSE! Constitutional Amendment No. 2 will NOT lower taxes! It was not even presented that way in the legislature. It was presented as revenue neutral. However, in fact, it will result in significantly higher state income taxes for middle income working Louisianians. From the Central City News for October 21, 2021:
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
Amendment No. 1.
• AMENDMENT NO. 2 — NOT TAX REFORM BUT THE OLD UNPOPULAR STELLY PLAN RE-PACKAGED —This removes your federal income taxes paid as a deduction on your state income tax return. This was done before in 2002. It was the so-called Stelly Plan, which was wildly unpopular and resulted in the defeat of many Louisiana legislators. This time they have it neatly re-packaged once again as “tax reform.”
• At present, individual Louisiana taxpayers save $690 million in state income taxes as a result of being able to deduct their federal tax paid from their taxable income for state income tax purposes. The current Louisiana Constitution prevents your income from being taxed twice — once on your income and a second time on the taxes that you paid. If this passes, individual taxpayers will pay a tax on a tax!
• It’s all very complicated to understand now, but when your tax bill arrives, you will understand it very well! You’re going to pay a lot more in state income taxes!
• Here’s the bait and switch: The constitutional amendment says it gives the legislature the power to repeal the deduction of federal taxes. That makes it sound like maybe they won’t! But here’s the thing: The legislature has already passed Act 395 of 2021, which provides that automatically if the voters pass Amendment No. 2, then Act 395 goes into effect! That act repeals the deduction of federal taxes paid. So they’ve already got it all figured out! Just like always!
• If you trust the politicians at the Capitol, go ahead and vote yes. If you don’t trust them, better vote NO, because this is going to put it to the taxpayers, especially middle income, working families! NO on Amendment No. 2!
