Jason Whitlock: “We pretend like oh, man, if it wasn't for these evil Europeans, there would be no African slave trade, there would be no Africans enslaved. That's a joke and a lie. Africans enslaved each other, and then the extras to turn a profit they sold to Europeans or whoever came over to Africa to buy them. Those are the facts.”

'The Singing Rainbow', William Daddell, Great Britain, 1899
Victorian-era carbon moonlight arch lamp.
Despite the invention of the electric incandescent bulb (Thomas Alva Edison and Joseph Swanne, 1880) ), charcoal arc lamps were widely used for street lighting and industrial applications—and remained so until the early twentieth century, when developments in the field of electric lamps made the arc-lamp obsolete.
The carbon arc lamp generated light, creating a bright spark between two carbon nodes. The problem of this lighting method, in addition to the dimness of the light and inefficient use of electricity, was the constant buzzing, screaming or hissing emitted by the electric arc.
