Leading aging researcher Joao Pedro de Magalhães answers the question: what are the main achievements in aging research in the 21st century?

Unfortunately, these are extremely insignificant results for a quarter of a century. The situation cannot but upset, and of course we are upset.

On the other hand, overoptimists are raging at Longevity. Their main trump card is that it is not long until AGI, and therefore immortality. This cannot but please, and of course we are happy.

The atmosphere in the field is a schizoid dichotomy: at the same time it seems that everything is lost, and at the same time that everything will be resolved soon.
