All my issues when away when I switched to Arch
I have been on quite a journey with this PC. I decided to ditch Windows about 3 years ago when I was having serious driver issues with AMD software and constant crashes/BSOD. I first tried Ubuntu. It was right on the eve of a new version coming out, I installed whatever LTS came before that. A few days in I tried to upgrade this installation and pretty much everything I had set up related to gaming (Steam/Proton stuff, OBS stuff, Reaper stuff, etc) decided to nuke itself, or change in ways I didn't ask. When that happened I decided to try Fedora. It was the exact same story. Worked great for a few weeks, until the new version came out. While this time it didn't exactly nuke itself, I had to pretty much redo everything, and games began to stop launching once again. It seems there was always some distro-specific roadblock that I had to overcome. After those 2 tries I sort of realized that maybe I'm a rolling release type of person, not in terms of getting newer things but more in the fact that I don't need to constantly be expecting new versions every 6-12 months. I'd prefer small updates, constantly. Upstream has become my best buddy. Long story short I've been on the same Arch installation via the archinstall script for the past 2 or so years and that issue of "Steam/Proton games not launching anymore" is simply gone. It has been the most headache-free way I've found to play my PC games period. I have no reasons to look back.Idk what everyone else is using but Arch with a DE is endgame in my experience.

Beginner to Linux
So I've been gaming on pc for almost 14 years now, and I am considering Linux. I have heard from many people that Linux is far superior to Windows (Minus a few compatibility issues with programs). I am running a 7900xt and 5800x, and I mainly just play games and watch 4K movies.I have been doing a fair bit of research on Linux, and I see a few prepackaged "Distros" that seem to offer what I am looking for.Is there anything I should know before going Linux? Or just dive in? Any help/advice/helpful links would be appreciated.(I plan to get another SSD just for my Linux install so no need to Dual-Boot)

Vaguely-remembered game from my childhood, racking my brains trying to figure out what it was
I remember playing it on Linux with my little sister like, 15-20 years ago. The graphics were simple and geometric, you moved around a dark environment and collected diamonds. The enemies looked like butterflies, or triangular bowties. This ringing any bells?

Freesync/VRR AMD Linux questio
Hi. I was wondering if Freesync/VRR works on Linux using AMD RX 580 using only HDMI? I use this pc as living room media player- light gaming machine. Currently use GTX 980. I use Nobara distro, Nvidia works alright, no problems what so ever, but everyone here is saying that AMD cards works the best in Linux. So I am thinking to swap my Nvidia card for AMD RX 580. And what I want most is freesync/vrr, because how smooth it displays games. Does it work? Should I swap my card or is it pointless? I have read so many posts that where people claim it (vrr/ freesync) works, others says it doesn’t. I am so lost right now.

Multi-GPU AMD (primary) + NVidia (secondary) on Wayland
Hi all, I recently upgraded to a 7900xtx from my old GTX 1070 and it is a huge improvement. However, I was hoping to keep the 1070 in my desktop as a "secondary GPU" that could be used for Cuda & the likes. Almost every guide on Multi-GPU and PRIME offloading selects the NVidia GPU as the primary one. Once I installed the non-free NVidia drivers, I can confirm that this happens with my setup. I am also using Manjaro and wayland at the moment, which works great on my new AMD card. Some icing on the cake (not sure if possible) would be to drive my secondary monitors purely from the NVidia card and have the big AMD card solely for the primary gaming display, but I'm not sure how well this works on Wayland, I found that only the Nouveau drivers work for this type of thing and then my NVidia card is super limited (the displays plugged into the NVidia card run at <10hz and I can't get any readings from the card like temp/util). So in summary: contrary to common practice, I have a small NVidia dGPU and a big AMD dGPU and I want to force the AMD gpu to be the primary one but still keep the NVidia card around for specialized applications. Nouveau seems to possibly do what I want but is very limited. NVidia proprietary drivers immediately force the NVidia card to be the "primary GPU" and all applications are run on it (not desired!). Thanks for your help!

Minecraft No Audio on Arch
I have just installed Minecraft on Arch, everything is running smoothly except for the fact that there is no audio output whatsoever. I know this issue is probably something I have overlooked but I can't find the solution.
Minecraft doesn't appear as an Output Stream in Audio under System Settings.
Have tried switching from Pipewire to Pulseaudio which I am now currently using and it has not fixed the issue. Apologies if this is an easy fix as I am new to Linux entirely.
