YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT, UNILAG IS ON THREADS!😎

If the University can follow the trend, why can't you?🤷‍♀

Well, you can also join LifeInUnilag on Threads - https://www.threads.net/@lifeinunilag

🤫Oh Yes, we are silently alive. Working on re-branding. By the way, if you think there's something we can do better (in terms of scope or objectives or anything literally), let us know in the DM. Thanks for the support always.💙
Is the government's plan to eradicate education?

Sad. Really sad. Unilag needs a student union. No single body of association to voice out the concerns of the students? This is beyond a 600% increment in fees.

What are students looking at?
What will the daughter of a fish seller tell her parents?
What will be the fate of the son of a carpenter, who has raised hopes of having a graduate in his family?
Even the middle class can't cope with this problem. How many drop-outs are we going to have?
Why is it only staff children that can pay installments, if we are to agree to this?

So many questions! This is not a solution. Instead of taking the problem to those in government, they are taking it upon the masses to solve the government's problems. Why?

A lot of things need to be said! This is outrageous.

Unilag Students protest against the outrageous hike in the school fees. We understand the economy is hard but a 500% increment is harsh on students!

What happened to affordable education?🤔

What happens to a family that has 3 kids in the University? Should they drop out and abandon their dreams?🥲

A common student is struggling to tackle his feeding & accommodation fees, thus a 500% school fees increment seeks to kill all hopes of being a student!😞

You know who I pity the most? The recent 100L students.

They entered school only to spend 3 years in their 1st year.
Now, in their 2nd year they are being forced to pay a ridiculous amount of school fees. 🤦‍♂

Is this to destroy student's interests in education? 🧐

The fear of indemnity form is what the management has weaponized. They believe we can't protest, but this?? We've been pushed against the wall!🙅‍♀

Raising the school fees with no increase in quality education is bewildering and unacceptable‼️😑

Don't think i have aspirants on here, but good luck on your registrations starting this week.

You might have been offered the admission, but your name is still written in pencil, until matriculation.

Don't let anything go wrong in your registration process. Take it from someone who wrote UTME twice, same UNILAG, same course, merit list twice, but one minor major fuck up in my paperworks cost me my admission that first year, 2015. So, be ready, and pay attention!

HOW TO STUDY EFFECTIVELY FOR THE UPCOMING EXAMS

1st semester exam is in about 30 days - and that’s enough time to catch up on all the courses you’ve been learning so far in your programme.

2. For overnight people: https://youtube.com/shorts/73TZV2-RBlE?si=80TWz-DDWWiLltkZ
3. hack for increased focus and retention: https://youtube.com/shorts/iFIqZNdKpi4?si=ISQsR-mmKHtKF8KI - try exercising instead of the cold shower
____

Now, I’m not here to just drop off some principles; like the:
1. Active Recall / Feynman Technique
2. Spaced repetition
3. Chunking
4. Pareto Principle
5. Study environment

But I’ll tell you how to smartly apply them.

1. Active Recall: Try teaching the course material to someone else. It works like magic, your scholars in class knows this. It’ll help you identify gaps in your knowledge or understanding and helps you correct mistakes you could have made in exams.

2. Spaced Repetition: Reviewing materials at increased intervals to reinforce learning. If you are into sports, you’ve probably heard of HIIT. The same principle applies, but this term you are strengthening your muscle memory.

3. Chunking: Don’t overwhelm yourself. It’s a huge goal to finish the courses in 30 days. But you can set bits-sized goals that you can take quick actions on.

For instance, tonight I’ll tackle this topic in this particular course A and check past questions if I can solve one. Then tomorrow morning I’ll open a topic in course B, tomorrow afternoon I’ll revise the topic in course A and then open course C a little. Then tomorrow night, I’ll tackle a past question related to the topic in course B and teach my friend.

Note that: you’ve built in 3 principles into that study routine.

4. Pareto Principle: 80% of the output (exam question) is 20% of the input (material studied). So put more work on your input. That is, focus on what’s important. Ask your seniors for guidance and check past questions. Don’t always wait for the Holy Spirit to minister, there’s a reason you have a brain.

5. Study Environment
: it’s not about the library, it’s about you being productive. You know what time your brain is active, and if a serene or a noisy environment is best for you. Or if you need people around you doing the same thing or you want to be alone. And if phones are a distraction tell your friend to siete it.

So, my dear! Studying effectively can be a game-changer. These principles can really boost your study sessions! 📚
