At the Syrian-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council meeting, nine agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed, covering civil, economic, and development sectors.

The meeting is also expected to produce outcomes including a reciprocal trade mechanism set to take effect in April 2026, the establishment of a joint investment committee, and 24-hour operations at the Nassib/Jaber border crossing, along with expanded cooperation in energy, transport, and water resources.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman on the sidelines of the second session of the Syrian-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council.

Jordanian border guards in the Northern Military Region said they foiled a narcotics smuggling attempt using a drone along the Syrian–Jordanian border, marking the second such incident in two days involving drone-based smuggling attempts in the same area.

Today’s meeting is the largest in the history of the two countries, marking a practical step to translate political will into structured cooperation.

Around ten agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, with cooperation discussed across more than twenty-one sectors and a wide range of bilateral issues addressed comprehensively.

We have laid the groundwork for a new phase through a trilateral memorandum of understanding with Turkey to activate land corridors, while also working to revive the Hejaz Railway, restart the Arab Gas Pipeline, and establish an electricity interconnection.

Coordination is also underway with Saudi Arabia on regional digital connectivity.
