Syrian Central Bank Governor, Abdul Qader Husrieh:

📌 Syria is in the final stages of establishing a correspondent banking arrangement with Turkey’s central bank to facilitate cross-border payments and trade financing.

📌 The country will also discuss a potential currency swap with Turkey to support trade and improve liquidity.

📌 The lack of a cross-border payment system remains one of the main obstacles to trade and investment.

📌 Trade between Syria and Turkey has increased, but transactions are still largely conducted in cash and through informal transfer channels.

📌 A correspondent banking system would enable and simplify cross-border payments and trade finance operations.

📌 These steps are part of broader efforts to rebuild Syria’s financial system after years of war, sanctions, and isolation.

Health Minister Musab al-Ali held a meeting with representatives from the Interior Ministry, WHO, and UNODC to strengthen cooperation in combating drugs, prevention, and treatment.

Syrian Internal Security Forces raided the Harabish neighborhood of Deir Ezzor targeting individuals wanted on charges related to crime and drug trafficking, arresting three suspects, while a fourth was detained after a hours-long standoff during which he was wounded.

Aida Burnett-Cargill, co-coordinator at Syria Mine Action, told Levant24 that 21 explosive ordnance incidents were recorded across Syria over the past week, causing 52 casualties, including 14 killed, six of them children, and 38 injured, 19 of them children.

Incidents were reported in eight governorates, with Deir Ezzor and Aleppo the hardest hit.
