The presidential spokesperson overseeing the January 29 agreement with the SDF, Ahmed al-Hilali, said the state will assume control of SDF-run prisons in Al-Hasakah, closing five facilities including Nafkar and Ambara, leaving one central prison and several detention centers. A new group of detainees held on revolutionary grounds will be released next week.

He added that joint checkpoints between the Internal Security Forces and Asayish will be removed, security will be handled solely by the Internal Security Forces, and recruitment will open soon. While military integration is proceeding rapidly, the integration of civilian institutions has been delayed due to unforeseen challenges.

Thirteen people were injured when unexploded ordnance detonated inside a vehicle of the Syrian Army’s Military Engineering Corps during clearance operations in Al-Hobait, in the Idlib countryside.

The Syrian Defense Ministry reported that two soldiers were killed and several others injured from the Military Engineering Regiments while transporting mines and unexploded ordnance in Al-Habeet, southern Idlib countryside, during clearance operations.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman, where both sides stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation.

They discussed preparations for the second session of the Joint Higher Coordination Council and reaffirmed condemnation of repeated Israeli strikes on Syria, calling them violations of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

The Israeli army issued an urgent warning to those near the Al-Masnaa crossing on the Syrian-Lebanese border, stating it intends to conduct airstrikes on the crossing, alleging its use by Hezbollah for military purposes and weapons smuggling.

The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports said the Jdeidet Yabous (Al-Masnaa) crossing is designated solely for civilian use, denying any military activity or presence of armed groups.

It added that crossings have been temporarily suspended following circulating warnings, as a precaution to ensure travelers’ safety, until conditions stabilize.

Raed al-Saleh, Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, said mines and unexploded ordnance remain a daily threat across the country, affecting civilians, farmland, populated areas, and demining teams. Contamination is widespread, resources are limited, and precise maps are lacking.

He added that efforts continue to strengthen demining capacities, introduce advanced technologies, and implement national removal and awareness programs coordinated by the National Center for Mine Action.

Ahmad Qazziz, Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, said the meeting with displaced persons aimed to involve them in shaping the national “Syria Without Camps” plan and to address misconceptions, including rumors of cash incentives for return.

He added that the plan focuses on rehabilitating infrastructure, clearing mines and war remnants, and creating job opportunities, covering all of Syria while prioritizing the most affected areas for fair and effective implementation.
