The Monastery Korennaya Pustyn in the Kursk Region and its Fluffy Inhabitants.

🔻In 1295, on the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, "a certain pious man" from the city of Rylsk, while working with his comrades in the forest, 27 versts from former Kursk; on the bank of the Tuskar River, found an icon lying at the roots of a large elm tree, its face turned to the ground. As soon as he lifted it, a spring of water opened up beneath the icon, which exists to this day.

🔻The icon was named Kursk after the name of the area, and Korennaya (Root) because it was found at the roots of a tree.

🔻Subsequently, a monastery cathedral church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built on this site.
