The 8 carpal bones

Carpal bones عظام الرسغ

هي 8 عظام غير منتظمة الشكل ربك لازكها وحدة وية اللخ وصايرة تشبه عظمة وحدة بالوظيفة. يتقسمن إلى صفين من العظام، صف proximal ويحتوي:

Scaphoid (كلمة يونانية، معناها المجوفة، مثل قارب)... وهي من أكثر العظام اللي تنكسر بالرسغ.

Lunate (لاتينية للقمر، تشبه الهلال اور سمثن).

Triquetrum (لاتينية للمثلث... لأن تشبه الهرم او المثلث).

Pisiform (يونانية، للبازلاء 🌚) وهي sesamoid bone, btw

وصف distal يحتوي:
Trapezium (معرفت الاصل مالتها للاسف)

Trapezoid ( لأن تشبه شبه المنحرف اللي بنفس الاسم)

Capitate هي العظمة الرئيسية وصايرة بالنص بالجذر مال الاصبع الاوسط

Hamate (لاتينية معناها تحتوي على خطاف) لأن تحتوي على تركيب يشبه الخطاف



بعد الولادة، هاي العظام تكون cartilaginous غضروفية (يعني بعدها ممتحولة لعظام) وبحلول السنة الأولى، تتعظم ossify عظمة الcapitate لحد ميوصل الطفل لعمر ال12 وتتعظم الcarpals كلها.

في حال صارت قوة على الايد، مثل لما تضرب شخص (فور سم ريزن...) قوة الضربة رح تنتقل عبر الاصبع الاوسط (3rd metacarpal) لعظمة الcapitate ومنها للlunate ومنها لعظم الradius الموجود بالذراع

بالمناسبة اكو mnemonic لكيتها بالمصدر مال التشريح علمود تنحفظ اسماء العظام:

تبدي بلproximal وبعدين الdistal

Ulnar nerve injury>>>fracture at medial epicondyle >>partial claw hand

Median nerve injury >> monkey hand

Median nerve &ulnar nerve injury >> complete claw hand

Lower trunk of brachial plexus injury >>complete claw hand

Upper trunk of brachial plexus injury>>waiter’s position


Radial nerve injury >>fracture at the middle of the shaft of the humerus >> wrist & fingers drop

Posterior interosseous nerve injury>> fracture at the upper 1/3 of radius >>fingers drop

Deep peroneal nerve>>fracture at the neck of the fibula>> foot drop

Montaggia's fracture:
Is a fracture to the proximal 1/3 of the ulna, accompanied by dislocation of the proximal joint of the radius.

Galeazzi's fracture:
A fracture to the distal 1/3 of the radius, accompanied by dislocation of the distal radio-ulnar joint.

Colles' fracture:
Fracture to the distal end of the radius, with posterior (dorsal) dislocation of the fractured fragment. The clinical condition it causes is sometimes called "dinner-fork hand" cuz it resembles a fork in shape.

Smith's fracture:
Fracture to the distal end of the radius, with anterior dislocation of the fractured fragment.
It's worth noticing that Colles' and Smith's fractures are basically the same. The only difference is the where the dislocated fragment resides. also, Smith's is less common than Colles' fracture.

Boxer's fracture:
Is a fracture of the distal end of the 5th metacarpal bone (occasionally the 4th).
It's named "boxer's fracture" cuz it could be caused by punching the wall with ur fist 🌚

Bennett's fracture:
Is a fracture of the proximal head of the 1st metacarpal (of the thumb). Can be caused by a forced abduction of the thumb.
