بالنسبة للـ arachidonic acid products
اللي هن prostaglandins, leukotreines, and thromboxanes

اللي تنتجهن الصفائح الدموية يسببن vasoconstriction و platelet aggregation حتى يساعدن بعملية التخثر.

بينما اللي تنتجهن الـ endothelium يسببن vasodilation و inhibit aggregation (يساهمن بعملية الإلتهاب inflammation)

For example, thromboxanes cause vasoconstriction & aggregation of platelets

While prostaglandins are mediators of inflammation (like pain, and vasodilation)

لهذا الـ NSAIDs (مثل الآيبوبروفين والأسبرين والفولتارين) هن عبارة عن COX-inhibitors وبالنتيجة يقللن إنتاج الـ prostaglandins وبالنتيجة يشتغلن كـ مضادات إلتهاب

وأيضًا لهذا الـ NSAIDs بالإستخدام المطوّل رح يأثرن على وظيفة الكلية ويسببن ischemia، لأن الكلية تستخدم الـ prostaglandins حتى تنظم الـ blood flow والـ NSAIDs يتلاعبن بهذا النظام.
