To provide a more professional trading service and enhance your trading experience, KuCoin will be updating the funding fee payment rules for perpetual contracts in phases. Funding fees will switch from a cross-period payment model to a current-period payment model. The settlement times will also be adjusted. Below are the details of these changes:
1. Funding Fee Settlement Time
Before the Update: For an 8-hour cycle, funding fee settlement times (UTC) were 04:00, 12:00, and 20:00.
After the Update: For an 8-hour cycle, funding fee settlement times (UTC) will be 00:00, 08:00, and 16:00.
2. Funding Fee Payment Rules
Before the Update: Funding fees were calculated based on the funding rate from the previous settlement time—this is known as cross-period payment. Example: For an 8-hour cycle, at 20:00 each day, the system would calculate the funding fee using the rate derived from the premium index between 04:00 and 12:00. As a result, the funding rate for the period between 12:00 and 20:00 would remain fixed.
After the Update: Funding fees will now be calculated using the funding rate at the current settlement time—this is known as current-period payment. Please note that the settlement time of funding fees has been changed. #Example: At 16:00 each day, the system will calculate the funding fee using the funding rate based on the premium index between 08:00 and 16:00, and the fee will be settled at 16:00. Please note that the funding rate may fluctuate up until settlement time, so you can manage your positions accordingly.
Special Notice: According to the update schedule below, all contracts will be charged the funding fee for the previous cycle at 04:00 (UTC) on the update date, and charged again for the current cycle 4 hours later at 08:00 (UTC).
After this update, funding fees will be settled based on the new timing and cycle rules. Please pay close attention to your contract positions.
