After an initial uptick, the Nifty fluctuated within a range of 21,985 to 22,130 for the entirety of the trading session. It eventually settled with a gain of 0.44 percent.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index outperformed the Nifty 50 and concluded the session with a positive gain of 0.86 percent.

Among a range of sectors, Metals and Energy stood out as top performers, exhibiting strength. Conversely, IT and Realty lagged behind, facing hurdles and displaying weaker performance throughout the trading session.

The options market indicates that the highest open interest on the call side is at 22500 level, while on the put side, its at 22000. Based on today's option chain analysis, it appears that there is an equal amount of writing observed on both the call side and the put side. This suggests a range-bound activity in the market.

The Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) suggests a trading range for the next day between 21870 and 22250. The Max Pain is seen at 22100 spot with the CE/PE Combined Residual Premium/Pain Value of 553.67 Crores.

In the cash market, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers with an activity totaling 2117.50 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) exhibited a net buying activity of 2709.81 crore.
