We will, in shāʾ Allāh, be doing a series addressing some doubts this brother encountered which led to his confusion and subsequent deviation.

As I previously promoted him on my channels, I feel obliged to share this. Please do the same if you have also promoted him, and make sure to remove his content and warn others against these channels.

As for you, my brother Abul-Ḥasan—may Allāh guide you—we advise you not to become bitter regarding the warnings and remarks made about you. Love should be for the sake of Allāh, as you know. Therefore, those who remain upon Salafiyyah, and who you were once close to, will naturally apply the principles they have learned to defend and uphold the Sunnah, such as refutations and distancing themselves from innovators and their supporters.

This isn’t a personal issue, this is an issue regarding our dīn. If you want to compile your points of concern or “questions” and get them sent to the Mashāyikh to get detailed answers and remove these doubts from you, then you know full well the brothers are happy to oblige and help you.

There is no disgrace in falling into error when it stems from sincerity and is followed by sincere correction; rather, disgrace lies in knowingly persisting upon errors.

   ▪️The Condition of Suleiman Al-Ruhaili▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah jiMuhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

📥  Question:

There is a question from one of the brothers in America asking about the condition of Suleiman Al-Ruhaili; He says, “This brother noticed this Al-Ruhaili sees the video as an act of worship to Allah, and he noticed his praise of the people of Al-Ibaanah, like Al-Adani, and also praises Ferkous, as well as his misunderstanding of the faith, as he says that the polytheist who is affiliated with Islam is treated as a polytheist as a precaution as he is not sure of his disbelief. He says, "I am a student of knowledge, I frequent between Yemen and Medina, and there are those who advocate for Al-Ruhaili saying that he is Salafi. What is the correct position, (regarding Suleiman Al-Ruhaili)? May Allah reward you with good.

📤 Answer:

Al-Ruhaili, his condition was hidden from us in the beginning, and we didn't know of him except for good. Then after that it reached us of his defence of the People of Al-Ibaanah, those that most of them swear loyalty to the Houthis and that they are the legitimate government and they are not being forced to say this out of fear. As Allah the Most-High says:

{ ياعبادي الذين آمنوا إن أرضي واسعة فإياي فاعبدون }

That which translates to:

"O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me." [Al-Ankaboot : 56]

And He the Most-High says:

{ قل ياعباد الذين آمنوا اتقوا ربكم للذين أحسنوا في هذه الدنيا حسنة وأرض الله واسعة إنما يوفى الصابرون أجرهم بغير حساب }

Which translates to:

"Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allāh is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e., limit]." [Az-Zumar : 10]

People have migrated from America, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia and India and from other than them from the countries of disbelief to come to Yemen. So who has prevented them (the People of Al-Ibaanah) from leaving these places to where they can worship their Lord upon clarity. As did our Shaikh Yahya al-Hajooree (may Allah preserve him) and other than him from the scholars of the Sunnah. As they left their home lands and moved from here to there, and they did this as a worship to Allah and obedience as they spread knowledge calling to the truth, and ordering the good and warning against evil. And with that they preserve their aqeedah (belief system) and preserved their students and their loyalty and disassociation. The opposite of those that stay and reside with that oppressive regime (Houthis) as they sometimes have to work with them mix with them and sometimes they have to praise them which causes them to be two faced and change their position whenever it suits them. So who forced them to stay and subjugate themselves to this humiliation? They subjugated themselves to this. And likewise we heard the case of him saying that picture making, he sees it as a means of getting close to Allah and he swore by Allah to its correctness. By Allah this is amazing! Turning disobedience into a path to getting close to Allah. How is disobedience a form of closeness to Allah?? This is in direct contradiction to the Qur'an and Sunnah. And it clearly opposes the way of the Salaf. If a person was to follow a principle the likes of this principle perhaps he would be attributed it to the people of innovation. How is disobedience a form of closeness to Allah?? Then you swear that this is a path to getting close to Allah the Most-High. Say, Disobedience is disobedience. Disobeying Allah will never produce good. Allah invalidated every disobedience and warned against it with the utmost declaration. Especially picture making as picture making is from the major sins. As for the one that doesn't see it as picture making that's a different position. And that position has been abandoned. As the correct position is that picture making is impermissible.
قناة الشيخ أبي عبدالله محمد بن عبدالله باجمال
الشيخ محمد باجمال حفظه الله – س٦- إجابة عن أسئلة ٦٥٨
And this is the statement of the muhaqaqeen (the investigators) from the people of knowledge. And the majority of the scholars of this modern times say that the picture making with these knew devices falls under the ruling of impermissibility. And furthermore what has come by way of some of the people of knowledge that it is permissible in cases of necessity but it is still a sin which in its origin is not permissible except in a necessity. They never say it's disobedience that draws one close to Allah. That statement is false. As for the issue of the principles of faith I haven't come across that statement but this is the path treaded by the people of Irjah (actions are not from faith). So as a whole, I do not advise with listening to or attending gatherings of the likes of them. Do not increase their numbers because the likes of him and those like him no one sits with them except the likes of those I see to be people of innovation. So there is no need for us to gather together and sit with them. May Allah bless you. So look for one that is upon goodness and upon the pure Sunnah.

And Allah knows best.

"The condition of Suleiman Ar-Ruhaili".

Question:
The questioner says: There is a question from one of the brothers in America asking about the status of Sulaiman Ar-Ruhaili. This brother notes that Ar-Ruhaili considers picture making through video recording an act of drawing closer to Allah, and he also notes his praise of the people of Al-Ibanah, such as Al-Adani, and he also praises Farkous. Likewise, [he notes] his incorrect understanding in Eemaan, as he says that a Mushrik who claims attribution to Islam is treated as a Mushrik out of caution, and that his disbelief is not definitively asserted. He says: I am a student of knowledge who travels between Yemen and Medinah, and there are those who encourage me towards Ar-Ruhaili, saying he is a Salafi. So what is the correct position? May Allah reward you with good".

Answer:
"Ar-Ruhaili's situation was once concealed, and nothing but good was known about him. Then later, he rose up as a defender of the people of Al-Ibanah, many of whom have declared loyalty to the Houthis, claiming that they are the figures of authorities, and they are neither forced nor coerced. As Allah says:

(يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ أَرْضِي وَاسِعَةٌ فَإِيَّايَ فَاعْبُدُونِ)
"O My slaves who have believed, indeed My earth is wide, so worship Me alone".
[Al-Ankabut: 56]

And:

"O My slaves who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account".
[Az-Zumar: 10]

There are people who emigrated from America, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, India, and other disbelieving countries and came to Yemen. So what prevents them from leaving these places and worshipping their Lord upon insight, as done by our Shaykh, the Allamah Yahya Al-Hajoori, may Allah preserve him, did, and other Shaykhs of the Sunnah? They left those lands and moved here and there, whilst they remained upon worship, obedience, spreading knowledge, calling to the truth, enjoining good and forbidding evil. By doing this, they preserved their creed, their students, their loyalty, and their disavowal. Unlike those who reside among those criminals, they use diplomacy at times and flattery sometimes, and perhaps praise them at other times, becoming chameleon-like. Who forced them to do this? They forced themselves.

Also, among what we have heard is the issue where he says regarding picture making: he considers it a means of drawing closer to Allah, and he swears by Allah upon that. By Allah, this is astonishing, that a sin could be transformed into an act of nearness. How can a sin become an act of nearness? This completely contradicts the Quran and Sunnah, and contradicts the methodology of the Salaf. If a person were to establish such a principle, he might be aligned with the people of Innovation. How can a sin become an act of nearness? He swears that it is considered a means of drawing closer to Allah. A sin is a sin; a sin brings no good. Allah has warned against sins with a severe warning. Yes, and especially picture making, as it is one of the major sins. As for the one who holds that it is not picture making, this is another opinion, a position which other than it is stronger. The correct view is that it is impermissible picture making, and this is the view of the verifiers among scholars. Rather, the majority of contemporary scholars rule that this type of picture making is included in the forbidden picture making. The most that has come from some scholars is that it is permissible out of necessity, and they say it is a sin, it is forbidden, permissible out of necessity. He does not say it is a sin an act of nearness. This is false speech.
Likewise, what relates to the issue of Eemaan. I do not know, I haven't come across this speech, but this is among the paths of the people of Irjaa. So in summary, we do not advise attending such people; they're are not to be attended nor are their numbers to be increased. As such a person, and his like, are only surrounded by those we consider to be Hizbis. We do not gather with them nor is there any need to, may Allah bless you. Rather, look to those who are people of goodness, Sunnah, purity, and clarity. And Allah knows best.

Likewise, what are their positions towards the people of falsehood, those they have with them, those people of falsehood, evil, and fitnah? They must have a clear position towards them. And Allah knows best.

I will suffice with this.

سبحانك وبحمدك لا إله إلا أنت أستغفرك وأتوب إليك
Exalted be You and Your Hamd, There is none worthy of worship in truth but You, I seek forgiveness from You and I repent to You". End of speech.

BENEFIT: Consensus is Not Required Before Declaring Someone an Innovator

Question:

Some people say that before applying the rule, ‘Whoever does not declare an innovator to be an innovator is himself an innovator,’ there must first be consensus (ijmā‘). Is this condition correct?

Sheikh Yahya Al-Hajoori hafidhahullah:

This condition is incorrect. The idea that we cannot call someone an innovator unless everyone agrees about him is false. In reality, scholars have not agreed about many innovators. There have often been disagreements among people regarding certain individuals, yet they were still considered innovators. Even the people of the Qiblah (Muslims in general) have not always unanimously agreed on such matters.

However, if a person’s innovation becomes clear and established — meaning that someone understands the evidence showing that this person is an innovator, and the proof for his innovation is clear — then it is not appropriate, and in fact not permissible, for him to oppose what has become clear or to defend the people of desires and innovation. Allah says: ‘And do not argue in defense of those who betray themselves.’

As for saying, ‘We cannot declare him an innovator until the whole Ummah agrees,’ this condition would rarely ever be fulfilled with many innovators.

The Salaf, may Allah be pleased with them, followed the approach that if a person’s innovation was established with evidence and recognised by qualified scholars who had expertise in these matters, then their judgment was accepted. Ahlus-Sunnah have always judged innovators to be innovators without waiting for everyone else to agree.

The one who knows is proof against the one who does not know.

So this condition is incorrect — indeed, it is a false condition.”

Ijtihād (In Matters Of Aqeedah)?

📩Question📩

♦️The Questioner says: ⤵️

What is the ruling on exercising independent reasoning (ijtihād) in matters of creed (‘Aqīdah)? And if someone exercises ijtihād and his statement inclines toward some of the deviant sects, is he considered from them, or is he still from
Ahlu-Sunnah Wa Al-Jamā‘ah?

📨Answered by:📨

🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee
Abdillaah Muhammad
Ba Jamal ((حفظه الله))

Whoever is qualified for ijtihād may exercise ijtihād.

However, in matters of creed, the foundation is that one takes creed from the Salaf; he takes beliefs from the Salaf.

So how can he exercise ijtihād contrary to the methodology of the Salaf? Such ijtihād is false and rejected.

But if the issue is obscure and unclear, and a person exerts effort and misses the correct view, then
if he is alive, the correct position should be clarified to him in the best manner with gentleness, softness, and respect so long as the one speaking is from the people of knowledge and qualified for ijtihād.

If he accepts that, then all praise is due to Allaah.

But if he still has some doubt remaining with him, then caution is made regarding him according to the extent of the doubt he possesses.

If he recognizes the truth yet stubbornly clings to falsehood, then he is warned against; yes, he is warned against.

As for a person who is merely pretending to have knowledge and says, ‘I made ijtihād, I made ijtihād

[ who are you to exercise ijtihād?]

Submit in these matters to what has been transmitted from the Salaf, refrain from delving into such issues, and stop where the people stopped.”

BENEFIT: What is Taqleed (Blindfollowing)?

Sheikh Yahya Al-Hajoori hafidhahullah said:

Taqlīd means following someone who is not a hujjah/proof, without hujjah/proof. This is not permissible.

As for what you may see in the words of Ibn Al-Qayyim, as transmitted by Ibn ‘Abdil-Barr or others, that “the scholars agreed that the blind follower is not a scholar,” the meaning is: in the issue in which he blindly followed others.

For example, a person may be knowledgeable in Arabic grammar, yet blindly follow someone else in a fiqh issue. This does not mean he is not a scholar at all. Or he may be knowledgeable in one field but blindly follow others in another issue. Therefore, he is not considered knowledgeable in the specific matter in which he made taqlīd, but it does not mean he is completely ignorant.

So the agreement of the scholars refers to the issue in which he blindly followed others — he is not considered knowledgeable in that matter, because he merely followed someone else in it.

For example, if we say that a scholar of fiqh followed a hadith scholar in authenticating a hadith, and he quoted that opinion without examining the evidence himself, without researching or investigating it, because he was unable to do so —

Would we then say that he is completely ignorant?

No. Rather, we say that in this particular issue he is not a scholar, because he followed someone else regarding the hadith. However, he is still a jurist and scholar of fiqh.

Isn’t that correct?

Because completely dismissing his knowledge simply because he made taqlīd in some issues requires further consideration.

This statement is understood to refer to the fanatical blind follower who never goes beyond saying, “So-and-so said,” or “This is the view of the madhhab,” and similar statements.

Taqlīd is forbidden. Taqlīd means following someone who is not a hujjah/proof without hujjah/proof. Following someone without evidence is not knowledge — it is ignorance. From this angle, it is said that such a person is not a scholar.

So if a person is a blind follower in all of his affairs, then he is not a scholar at all. But if he is independent in some matters and a blind follower in others, then in the matters where he made taqlīd, he is not considered knowledgeable.
