On Memorial Day, we honor the fallen soldiers who fought for our freedom in the United States. It is also the unofficial start of summer.

We also extend our tribute to those currently losing their lives in the fight for freedom. Let us universally honor all fallen soldiers, recognizing their courage and the peace they sought to bring to our world.

What to do vs. How to do:

"What to do" is about giving direction or outlining a task without detailing the steps. For example: "Complete the report."
"How to do" involves providing specific instructions or steps on how to complete the task. For example: "To complete the report, first gather the data, then analyze it, and finally write the summary."

When you tell someone "how to do" something, it can sometimes be misinterpreted as micromanaging or telling them "what to do" if they perceive the instructions as too directive.

Why "I do it one day" isn't correct?

In English, when you want to express that something is done within a certain period, you need to include a preposition like "in" to connect the action to the timeframe. So, to correctly say that it took just one day to complete something, you would say:

"I do it in one day."
The preposition "in" shows the relationship between the action ("do it") and the time period ("one day"). Without "in," the sentence "I do it one day" sounds incomplete because it doesn't clearly express when or how long it took to do the task.

Another correct way to express the same idea, focusing on the duration, is:

"It takes me one day to do it."
Here, "takes" is the verb that shows the duration of the action.

So, the preposition "in" or the verb "takes" is necessary to clarify the time relationship between the action and the day it took to complete it.
