I have been asked multiple times about how we can get ESAs for parents to get their kids out of public school. Since we can't make any changes right now due to not being in session, let me make a suggestion for and alternative solution.
Charter schools are in abundance right now. You can remove your child out of traditional public school and enroll into a charter school that has opening. The cool thing about Charters is that they have the specialty that can suit your child. One might focus on foreign languages, another on farming, another on music and acting, Etc. We really enjoyed the charter experience for my middle daughter who did not settle into public school well. It was a good alternative and she had a much better education. Even if it's only for this year until the dust settles, it is a viable option. Here in Arizona you have many opportunities and charter schools are a good choice.
Finally, this is the power that you have as a parent. Removing your child from the public school removes a significant dollar amount and that is what gets their attention and can create change. I'm sure the kids may not be too excited about going to a different school but even if it's temporary it might just be necessary in times like these.

As I said, I will not reward the blatant disregard for state law with a yes vote on funding.

State leaders are using the threat of funding cuts as a weapon in the mask debate—but it's not clear if they can or will follow through.
