❗️Gaza rebuild effort turns rubble into infrastructure
Palestinians are repurposing rubble from buildings damaged by Israel to rebuild roads destroyed by Israel, crushing concrete and metal into pavement as part of a project run by the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
Alessandro Mrakic, who leads UNDP’s Gaza office, said Gaza is facing one of the most extensive post-war clearance challenges in recent history, with an estimated 61 million tons of rubble.
"Beyond the collection (of rubble), we have started sorting, we have started crushing, and, as such, reusing it," Mrakic said. "We have used almost the same amount that we have collected."
Mrakic added that UNDP teams, working with Palestinian laborers, are repurposing the material "to rehabilitate roads and pave areas for shelter and community kitchens."

U.S. President Donald Trump discussed a new Iranian proposal on resolving the war with Tehran with his top national security aides on Monday, as the conflict remains in a stalemate with energy supplies from the region reduced.
Iranian sources earlier on Monday disclosed Tehran's latest proposal, which would set aside discussion of Iran's nuclear program until the war is ended and disputes over shipping from the Gulf are resolved.
That is unlikely to satisfy Washington, which says nuclear issues must be dealt with from the outset.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he thought Iran was trying to buy more time.
"We can't let them get away with it," he said in an interview with Fox News.
"They’re very good negotiators. They're very experienced negotiators. We have to ensure that any deal that is made, any agreement that is made is one that definitely prevents them from sprinting toward a nuclear weapon at any point," Rubio said.
Work to bridge gaps between the U.S. and Iran has not halted, sources from mediator Pakistan said, despite the absence of face-to-face diplomacy after Trump called off a trip by his representatives over the weekend.
Hopes of reviving peace efforts have receded since the U.S. president this weekend announced he had scrapped a visit by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad, the Pakistani capital, where Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi shuttled in and out twice during the weekend.
Araqchi also visited Oman and on Monday went to Russia, where he met President Vladimir Putin and received words of support from a longstanding ally.

Got called a Mossad agent today by a guy I was seeing.
(Antisemitism)
I had no idea how rampant antisemitism is until today when i realized that the guy I’ve been talking to is a fucking total antisemite.
He made a joke about his airline pilot being Israeli, and I asked him if his joke was intended to be some sort of antisemitic pun or something.
He then went on to lecture me ( mind you he has no level of higher education past high school) about “ anti zionist ≠ anti jewish” and how he thinks that all Israelis are Eastern European which literally is NOT true at all.
He goes “ I didn’t know I was talking to a Mossad agent” . then went on to make the point of how Israel has the “ highest skin cancer rate in the world” because apparently “ Poles don’t belong in the Middle East” . which also isn’t true.
Made jokes about how apparently Brooklyn New York has more Ashkenazi Jews than israel; and how they’re “hiding in the ground”.
Finally to top it all off, he started saying the N word and justified his usage of the slur because it’s verbatim “just a word”.
This is not the first time I’ve encountered antisemitism in dating and im just so tired of it.
I want to be with someone who is sane, is that too much to ask for?

Graphic design platform Canva has a number of AI tools available to users, but it turns out they have some real strong editorial opinions—including removing the word “Palestine” from designs.
The issue was spotted by X user @ros_ie9, who shared an image showing Canva’s “Magic Layers” feature changing the text of a design from “Cats for Palestine” to “Cats for Ukraine.”
Others claimed they were able to replicate the issue, which seemed limited to the word “Palestine” and, for whatever reason, repeatedly replaced it with “Ukraine.” Users were able to create projects that included the word “Gaza” without issue.
A spokesperson for Canva confirmed the issue when contacted by Gizmodo and said it has been addressed. “We became aware of an issue with our Magic Layers feature and moved quickly to investigate and fix it. It’s now been resolved, and we’re taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” the spokesperson explained. “We take reports like this very seriously, and we’re putting additional checks in place to help prevent this in future. We’re sorry for any distress this may have caused.”
Per Canva, the issue was isolated and didn’t affect designs broadly—though it’s unclear what that means, considering some users were reportedly able to reproduce the issue. Regardless, the company said it launched an audit into how the issue arose and is reviewing its internal testing processes to detect and prevent unexpected outputs in the future.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he had never had direct contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
"I have never spoken to the foreign minister of Iran, as I said, and he rarely has spoken to our people.
It’s mostly indirect talks," Rubio said in an interview with the Fox News TV channel.
"There’s been some direct communication over the last few weeks with regards to these meetings that have taken place [in Islamabad].
Remember, for a long time there was a prohibition in the Iranian system against speaking directly to Americans," the secretary of state added.
"Direct communications with them are very rare and very discreet, and only through one or two people in their system," Rubio said.
