He noted that Tehran views the exercise of sovereignty within its territorial waters as an inherent right of the Iranian nation.
Zolfaghari added that, based on this principle, Iranian forces are determined to continue securing the country’s territorial waters.
He reiterated earlier statements that vessels belonging to enemy forces are not permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz, while other ships may continue passage as long as they comply with the Iranian Armed Forces’ regulations.
The spokesperson also said that, given ongoing threats against Iran’s national security even after the cessation of recent hostilities, the country intends to maintain a permanent mechanism for overseeing the Strait of Hormuz.
He argued that recent restrictions imposed by the United States on international maritime movement are unlawful and amount to piracy.

A major source of pollution stemmed from fires at oil storage facilities in Tehran Province, where more than 360,000 cubic meters of fuel burned, according to the report which said the incidents resulted in nearly one million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, along with around 4,000 tons of hazardous volatile compounds.
Separate attacks on fuel tanks in Alborz Province released an additional 53,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
The Department of Environment said it is compiling documentation to pursue the case through international bodies.
