Last week, I had the occasion to explore an abandoned complex of apartment buildings. The rug of snow in contrast with the dark shrouds of brick contribute to an ethereal bleakness; a sort of liminality.
Of note, while most doorways were damaged, I found no window glass smashed.

Midway through my apartment trek, the sun peeked out and bathed common hallways in a scalding radiance I so dearly love. Windswept leaves from years gone by heap up in paths long forgotten, sheltered by chance like the students who once applied to live here.

I promise, come spring you'll see more color in my shots. I've enjoyed focusing on contrast and composition over the past few months, especially as winter rarely provides a vivid palette. I find muting colors emphasizes how light paints the scene; something tranquil and nostalgic emerges.
