The Sakura Blossom 2026 event starts next Tuesday at 18:00 UTC and with it a few Campaigns and new medals will be available, together with new Redux Campaigns.

New Campaigns:

Currently, the global XM network is mirroring this ancient wisdom. NIA researchers have observed a rare phase-shift in XM signatures worldwide. The raw energy that powers our Portals is no longer manifesting at its usual frequency; it has begun to take the form of luminous, pink sakura petals. These XM-crafted blossoms are now drifting through the air of your Scanner, a visual testament to the volatile and ever-changing nature of the energy we interact with daily. This is not a disruption, but a harmonization—a moment where the digital and the natural reflect one another in a short-lived, beautiful resonance.

This period of High Aesthetic Volatility will manifest within a specific temporal window, beginning on 7 April 2026 at 18:00 UTC and dissolving on 30 April 2026 at 18:00 UTC. During this time, the NIA has authorized a series of six specialized Dispatch Campaigns designed to help Agents attune themselves to this manifestation.

For those looking to ground themselves in the current bloom, the “Sakura Blossom 2026” Campaign is available to all Agents at no cost via the Dispatch interface. Upon completion, this path rewards the “Sakura Blossom 2026” medal and 3,000 Orion Tokens, ensuring that your attunement to this event resonates with the ongoing seasonal frequency. For those seeking a deeper connection to this year’s unique XM structure, two advanced Campaigns—”Sakura Branch 2026” and ”Sakura Tree 2026”—can be accessed via the In-App Store for 15,000 CMU each.

Furthermore, we recognize that while the XM is transient, its echoes can be recalled. Three newly commissioned Redux Campaigns have been launched, allowing Agents to secure the classic designs from the 2021 collection. Through these new paths, the 2021 “Sakura Blossom”, “Sakura Branch”, and “Sakura Tree” medals can each be pursued for 2,500 CMU.

The petals are already beginning to fall. The XM will eventually revert to its raw state, and this digital Hanami will fade. We encourage you to step into the field immediately to witness the volatility and capture the impermanence of the bloom before the window closes.

Agents have noticed that the process to open a Support ticket has changed. Instead of going through the Scanner and the ADA AI chatbot, the only way to open a new ticket is now directly through the support.ingress.com website.

To that end, the form to submit a request has been updated with a new "Other Ingress issues" category that can be used for tickets that do not fit any of the other categories. When choosing that category you can describe your issue or request freely and add attachments as needed. You also have an additional field to use to further categorize your request, although it is optional.

After Reports from Agents that the new Daily Bounties for April 7th do not include the new Orion Tokens as announced prior, Brian has confirmed that the team is working on the issue and that a Bounty Pass will be issued via the store so that Agents can catch up once the Bounties are fixed.

The Sakura Blossom 2026 event has started and the Scanner has received a visual makeover for the event with Cherry Blossom petals falling gron from the sky and a Cherry Blossom tree in the color of your faction in the main menu!

Just like during Farmgress you can turn off these visual changes at the bottom of the settings.

There is currently an error when you try to buy most of the Premium Campaigns as they haven't been added to the Dispatch screen yet. You will need to wait until Niantic Spatial adds them and fixes the store error.

We are getting (as of yet unconfirmed) reports that after starting the Scanner the option to select your Faction appears without apparent reason. If this screen appears for you, make sure to select your original Faction! Apparently the Scanner will force you into the other Faction when you select it by accident while retaining your current Level and AP. If this did happen to you your best bet is to open a support ticket so the team can reverse the Faction Change.

This issue has been escalated to Niantic.

Niantic Spatial has released the 3.7.1 Update for Ingress (on iOS only?) a few days ago!

Now listed officially, the team notes the addition of the Sakura theme that is currently visible in the Scanner as well as how to disable it. A fix was also added regarding an issue with displaying characters in Simplified Chinese.

Notably, this Update was released over 5 days ago on Thursday, with most Agents on iOS able to download it, however it does not appear to have been released on Android via Google Play (yet). Normally, Google Play will show the most current "Updated on" date in the Play Store site for Ingress even if an Agent cannot update the Scanner itself yet due to a slow rollout. At the moment though this date shows as Mar 17, 2026, the release date of the 3.6.1 update.

It is currently not known if the 3.7.1 update is withheld intentionally by the Ingress team, if there is an issue on the end of the Google Play team or something else. We will let you know once we recieve reports of the update rolling out on Android. You can also let us know in the comments if you got the update via Google Play!
