Niantic shared additional details about the three Campaigns that we reported about in the previous days, in particular regarding The Aberration Campaign.

All Campaigns will run from March 6th @ 18:00 UTC to April 6th @ 18:00 UTC. (If you are running the latest update of the official Telegram app, click the dates to view the times in your timezone!)

The Aberration
All Agents will be able to access a common Campaign called "The Aberration", which will contain both defensive tasks (deploy Resonators, create Links and Fields) and offensive tasks (destroy Resonators, fire XMPs, destroy Links).

🛡 Completing defensive tasks will unlock a campaign called “The Aberration: Superposition”.
⚔️ Completing offensive tasks will unlock a campaign called “The Aberration: Dissolution”.
⚖️ Completing both, will unlock a campaign called “The Aberration: Equilibrium”.

This is a chance for all Agents to obtain some additional +Gamma Tokens: a total of 3800 Tokens are up for grabs completing all the Aberration Campaigns.

The Feline Campaigns
Two additional premium campaigns (priced at 30.000 CMU) will be available for purchase in the in-app store: Bad Cat 2026 and Good Cat 2026.
Both campaigns, if completed will award their respective new medal.

We are receiving reports that Ingress is currently experiencing server issues with Agents not being able to take any action or being able to log in as well as the Intel Map not being reachable either.

This may not be isolated to just Ingress, as other services and sites are also having issues with reports from Facebook, Instagram, Steam and a lot others also being down.

We will keep you updated.

Current status: 🟢 The issue has been resolved and all systems are go. Daily Bounties progress is being caught up with. (00:09 UTC)

Niantic Spatial has announced that throughout this and next week the team is working on updates to their servers. These updates are happening on the live server, so a heads up was given that there might be some unannounced latency or outages throughout the work.

The exact details of these upgrades to the servers were not divulged, so it is unknown if this is simply required maintenance to keep the servers running or preparations for new features and/or better stability and fixes to existing features overall.

The Ingress Team has announced that several core community features will be paused or retired on March 11, 2026.

⏸️ On that date, access to Operation Portal Recon (OPR) will be paused, along with new Portal nominations and edits. At the same time, Overclock will be retired. According to the Ingress team, this change is part of a broader effort to realign the AR feature Overclock with Niantic Spatial’s updated priorities and spatial technology roadmap.

OPR was brought back online after the switch from Niantic to Niantic Spatial in November 2025, alongside the Seer Medal, to replace Wayfarer after it was sold to Scopely together with Pokemon Go.

🤳Scanning, along Scout and Scout Controller Badges will not be affected, as stated by Niantic Spatial on Reddit

🔜 In the short term, the Ingress team says their focus will shift toward campaigns, global operations, and infrastructure improvements. By pausing some legacy systems, they intend to free up resources to support the game and its community in the long term.

With OPR and submissions paused, the Portal Network will not receive new nominations or edits for the time being. However, the team acknowledged the importance of maintaining a high-quality and up-to-date Portal Network and stated they plan to explore "new approaches for supporting mapping initiatives" in the future.

🔒 In a post on BlueSky, Niantic acknowledged that opening OPR access to Level 16 Agents gave the team insight into the kinds of abuse they could expect if the platform were opened to all Agents. This experience highlighted the need for additional changes and safeguards before expanding the system further.
This is most likely a reference to recent cases of coordinated review abuse, including large-scale bot voting that was uncovered after Niantic added badge tier timestamps, which allowed the community to identify suspicious review patterns.

ℹ️ This pause is described as part of a redesign effort. Niantic says it will work on new ways to support community-driven mapping, similar to what OPR previously provided.

Agents from both Factions have made their way to 🇭🇷Zagreb and 🇭🇰Hong Kong, gearing up for tomorrow's Anomaly Events. While we count down to the battle, here's where things stand in the series:

The Enlightened currently hold a narrow lead over the Resistance, with 33.2% (1132.4) of all available points compared to the Resistance's 31.2% (1067.6), and there are still 4 Anomaly Events left to play.

With roughly one third of the points still on the table, every Agent's effort will count in deciding which Faction wins the series.

Tonight marks the start of the action, with the GORUCK Stealth Ops kicking things off.

+Gamma Anomaly Series - It all comes down to the final weekend!

Only two Anomaly Events separate us from knowing the Faction which will capture the +Gamma Series!
Agents are arriving as we speak in 🇮🇳Hyderabad and 🇦🇷Buenos Aires to prepare for the final battle. Here is our usual recap on the current score.

The Enlightened have slightly widened their lead over the Resistance with 1467.4 points (43.2% of all available) against 1332.6 (39.2% of all available), with 2 Anomaly Events to play, each awarding 300 points.
At this point, it's still too early to call: the Resistance remains very much in contention. A strong performance across both cities this weekend could be enough to tip the scales, and Agents are ready to deliver.

The action has already begun with the GORUCK Stealth Ops kicking things off ahead of Saturday's main events.

The Ingress First Saturday for April will be the first opportunity of this year for Agents to receive access to the ITO EN Dispatch Campaign, together with the exclusive ITO EN Medal!

IFS organizers will, depending on the amount of people that have RSVPed, recieve a number of passcodes that will award access to the ITO EN Dispatch campaign. Organizers can decide themselves how they want to distribute these codes, but Fev Games encourages them to be prizes for the IFS.

If you can make it to an IFS, then April will be the perfect time to attend as you will not only get a tick for your First Saturday badge, a chance for the ITO EN Dispatch Campaign and x2 AP, but also Tokens for the new Orion Anomaly Season that will count towards the new, 4-tier Anomaly Season medal!

An open letter to Niantic about Anomaly organisation has gained significant traction across the XFAC community on Reddit.

A member of the Ingress community close to the organization of Anomaly events published a detailed post addressed directly to Niantic Spatial, raising two main concerns: the legal exposure of volunteer POCs and the direction of Anomaly Season design.

On legal responsibility and Anomaly timing
In countries like Germany, Switzerland, France and Singapore (and Italy too, in a minor way, ed.), running a public event comes with real legal obligations, such as permits, regulatory compliance, accountability to authorities, and the prospect of substantial fines if something goes wrong. According to the post, these obligations should belong to Niantic, even though POC volunteers in the recent past were luckily skilled enough to deal with the legal aspect of an Ingress event.

The specific points raised are:
🔸POCs are volunteers: they are not Niantic's legal representatives
🔸Fines for non-compliant events are not symbolic: they can be significant
🔸Nobody signs up as a POC to become a company's legal fallback

The letter also discusses Niantic's event planning choices, specifically the timing and legality of events such as scheduling an Anomaly in Geneva during a G7 summit, choosing Paris with its strict public assembly laws without providing organisers the support to navigate them or placing events in Jersey City and Bogotá during the FIFA World Cup, when infrastructure is strained and logistics are a nightmare. The post argues that none of this is obscure knowledge, and yet volunteers are left dealing with these issues.

On Anomaly Season design
The second part of the letter addresses what is seen as a structural drift away from what makes Ingress distinct. With Anomalies now a component of the larger Anomaly Season badge, and bounty-based scoring consolidating faction results into a pure headcount contest, the letter argues that coordinated, strategic play is being devalued:

🔸Larger factions gain a near-automatic advantage in bounty scoring
🔸Individual stat challenges (Global Ops etc.) reduce the need for inter-agent coordination
🔸The format that made anomalies compelling, smaller groups outplaying larger ones through strategy, becomes largely irrelevant

The letter closes with a reminder that the Ingress community has always been willing to carry significant weight in supporting events, but that personal legal liability is a line it should never be asked to cross.
The post is currently being widely shared and discussed across both factions.
