🔸Your Niantic profile will be removed from your Ingress Agent profile. Ingress ceases to be listed as a Niantic game.
The dev team also advises that the regular flow of updates may have some disruption due to the amount of work that needs to be carried out to complete the transition. This work will not impact Ingress Live events (Anomalies, MDs and so on).

We're preparing to spin out to Niantic Spatial and there are a few things to note before the transition.

While we have already mentioned it in the previous post, we want to make absolutely sure that everyone is aware of the following:
Facebook will be removed as a log in method for Ingress and all related services like the Intel Map and the Mission creator.
If you are currently using Facebook as the only method to log in, you must link either a Google or an Apple account to your Ingress profile as soon as possible. If you don't, you will lose access to your account.
If you are unsure how to link another log in method, you can read through this Support article: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/faq/418-linking-additional-login-providers-to-your-ingress-account-1600717969/
If you already have a Google or Apple account linked in addition to Facebook, we would still strongly suggest to test if you can log in without Facebook. Any problems need to be fixed before Facebook is removed, so double and triple check that your choosen method is working.
We will update you once Niantic announces when the removal will take place.
If you don't use Facebook to log in or are absolutely sure you have another method linked, you don't have to do anything.

The Ingress Team has highlighted the provisional playboxes for the +Theta XM Anomalies in Manila, Philippines and Providence, RI, USA on May 17th 2025!
The playbox in Manila is roughly 1.6 by 1.0 kilometers wide. In the US, the playbox is about 1.6 kilometers by 800 meters.

Agents investigating the matter are speculating that in a few hours the population of Machina Portals will be at zero.
During this last period, Machina has visited many more portals but for less time, and its linking activity was much reduced due to the weakness of newly "infected" Portals.
In the image, you can see the current situation in a big city such as Milan, where the red links have been disappearing rapidly. You can also compare it with the situation on April 5th, in this post.
The latest message appeared on Niantic's Facebook page has teased a 'potential for rapid re-emergence', suggesting that the entity may re-appear stronger in the near future.

The Now tab in Machinas profile is reporting 0 Portals Owned by our red friend, with about 1800 "Links Active" still shown likely due to a bug. From posts on Social Media by NISP it is clear that this is not the end of Machina and that it'll return soon, likely with new behavior.

Next Tuesday, April 15th at 17:30 UTC, Campfire and the Niantic Profile will be disabled and removed from the game. In addition, new Portal Submission and edits will be paused together with the creation of new Missions and edits to them. This pause will persist until a new system is in place. This will likely be your last chance for a while to affect the game board via submissions, edits and missions!
Additionally, there will be a temporary disabling of creating, linking or unlinking accounts as well as a pause on distance tracking on Thursday, April 17th from 17:30 UTC to 23:30 UTC. During that timeframe you may also experience problems logging in with Apple, however Google should not be effected.

Theories from the NIA predict that Machina will repopulate the Portal Network to the same levels as seen before.
This change comes shortly after the complete disappearance of Machina-controlled Portals from the network.
At this time, Machina still appears to control no portals, meaning that the resurgence of this entity should begin shortly.

A new Wayfarer Challenge has been announced, including rewards for Ingress!
Even though new submissions and edits will be turned off today the newest Wayfarer Challenge will still involve reviewing from Agents in exchange for an OPR Live badge tick, and this time the challenge is global! It doesn't matter from where you review the Wayspots during the challenge timeframe for them to count, and you'll also have the opportunity to switch your home and bonus location as often as you'd like.
The Challenge will run from tomorrow, April 16th, 19:00 UTC to April 23rd, 19:00 UTC. The detailed reward structure and how much you'll need to review will be announced later.

Among the many layoffs that involved many in the former Niantic team, we got news that Alex Stamm, Technical Designer for Ingress has also been let go from the company. He has been the creator (or discoverer?) of many features of the Ingress Scanner, including Overclock, the Dispatch feature and many more. He was also the presenter of Overclock and Lightship VPS at AWE 2023.
(He's been sneakily hiding in our discussion group for quite some time, thinking to be invisible to our powerful systems 😏)
We would like to extend to him our most heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable work for our beloved Scanner, and to all of his colleagues whose adventure in the Ingress Team is coming to an end.

Due to the Wayfarer Community's effort, the backlog queue has reduced significantly, causing many locations around the world to exhaust nominations and edits to review, which, in turn, were the cause of errors and slowness to Wayfarers.
Due to this, the end of the challenge has been pulled back to April 22nd, 2025 @ 5:00 PM PDT, in less than 2.5 hours.
To compensate for this, the individual rewards have been tuned and now, for example, the tick on the OPR Live medal can be obtained with 400 reviews instead of 500.

Niantic has released Update 2.165.1 into the App Stores.
With this update, the team is preparing to move from Niantic to Niantic Spatial, which also includes the removal of Facebook as a login method.
If you haven't yet linked a Google or Apple account as a login method, do not update Ingress and link one now. With this update, the team is preparing to move from Niantic to Niantic Spatial, which also includes the removal of Facebook as a login method.

On the hunt for Ingress contributions - Who still has them?
Some Wayfarer Ambassadors have noticed that their contributions from Ingress which were submitted before the cutoff a while back did not yet get decided on, even despite the challenge.
Do you still have something open that you submitted through Ingress? Is your submission stuck in NIA voting? Then let your nearest Wayfarer Ambassador such as @Kawin240 or @Tehstone know! Don't take too long though, as no one really knows when the line will be drawn and the final Ingress sync will happen.
