Reports keep coming in from Yokosuka, where two challenges have already been completed!
The first one, a relay race passing heavy backpacks between members of the team, was won by the Enlightened!

The result for the Yokosuka Goruck Stealth Ops is now final!
Reports from the ground after the event tell us that the Resistance won 5 out of the 7 challenges played, while the Enlightened won the remaining 2!

🇯🇵 The +Alpha Anomaly in Yokosuka, Japan has ended several minutes ago, it was an awesome event to witness!
So many Agents from both Factions battled for three hours in the Japanese city for the inaugural anomaly Event of the +Alpha Series, and plenty of fun was had despite a couple issues with the game being reported!
We are now waiting on the final results to be released by Niantic. Usually, at Ingress Events in Japan a live announcement is made by Niantic at the After-Party.

At the After Party in Yokosuka, Niantic announced a new test on Shards infrastructure! This test will take place at Mikasa Park (Yokosuka, Japan) on February 16th, starting at 15:30 and ending at 16:30 (local time).
A restocking portal will be active inside the park from 15:20 to 16:30.
As this is a test, the scores of the +Alpha Series will not be affected.
According to those who attended the After Party, it was also said that the changes in this test, if effective, will be brought to Tucson, AZ, USA for the Anomaly on February 22nd!

Bloomberg reports that Niantic has entered talks for the sale of their video-game business for an estimated $3.5 billion, with a potential verdict coming in the next few weeks. Pokemon Go is included in the talks as well as "other mobile games", although there is no assurance yet that a deal will be reached at all.
As members of the community have pointed out, Scopely is known for games such as Monopoly GO which are criticized as being pay to win, filled with ads and other anti-consumer practices.
⚠️ While this news may sound less then stellar for Ingress, do note that:
- This is an unconfirmed report
- This deal has not been finalized and could fall through
- Ingress may not be included in the sale

Niantic is updating their app to comply with upcoming changes to the Google Play Integrity API!
Next monday on February 24th, after the Tucson anomaly, Niantic will switch to the new Play Integrity API that was recently announced by Google which promises better detection while also being more reliable. As part of the change Niantic will lower detection from checking for "Strong" device integrity to the new "Basic" device integrity.
As per the definition from Google, Basic device integrity will be given to physical devices that run Android, but "may not meet Android compatibility requirements". This includes devices with an unlocked bootloader or a custom Android OS.
This basically means that once the integrity checks are updated more Android devices will be given access to Ingress! If you have a device that cannot pass the Strong integrity check currently you may be able to use it to play Ingress soon.
If you want to check if your device will pass the new checks, you can download this app and start an integrity check. Once the check has concluded, make sure to see if you get a checkmark for "MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY". If you are running Android 13 or above, make sure to switch to "New A13+ checks" after the check is complete. If you can currently run Ingress then you phone will be able to run the Scanner after the change as well.
Note: While the Play Integrity API still gives out a "Basic" verdict when the phone is rooted, Ingress uses additional, separate checks to detect rooted phones and disables access to the Scanner for them.
iOS devices are not affected by this change.

The ripple created by the Toast Day 2025 announcement has knocked the Mission module of the Scanner offline and sent it into another timeline!
Agents are currently unable to search for nearby Missions via the Mission menu in the Scanner. Niantic is aware and is working on a solution.
If you find the portal where a Mission begins you can start it from there in the meantime.
